Eriki's MS1 Questions
So eriki and i are out in his garage getting his ms in and running, two things are coming up right now 1. even changing the settings in easy therm dont fix the coolant temp, its reading 170degrees when its cold. and his fresh out of the package mtx is only reading fully lean with the car running( its been calibrated 3-4 times with the same results.
We got the MtX fixed so that's out, now it's just the temp settings to get them right
other side note, i completely forgot how to change how fuel tables are viewed, his is voltage of AFM, i was trying to remember how to change it to Map pressure.
Tadd there is a 10degree marking to go off of on my crank pulley its differnt from yours, when the car is cold it does not like to start or idle untill warm. i have to give it gas as i crank it over for it to start and hold the gas for it to idle untill it warms up a bit. Would that be a timing issue or fuel or even both?
coolant stuck at 170° is the failsafe temp, IIRC. Might be disconnected?
Is that the sensor on the front or back of the head brain.
Brain also for the timing set up there is no referance gauge to base 10 degrees BTDC off of with a timing light. What should i do about that,
the back of the head.
turn the motor to TDC on #1 and make your own mark on the pulley?
it has the marking on the pulley...
so you you need to change the trigger angle or rotate the cas, so when the timing is locked at 10° it [the mark] lines up with the 10° mark.
well thats the thing it has the marking on the pulley but there is no refernace gauge to to see what it is with a timing light, its the little gague that connects beind the crank pulley and comes out over it and looks like an arrow and has markings on it. i dont have one on my car.
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
go get one? |
Yeah, it's a little sad Mazda (and many other engine manufacturers) rely on a shitty piece of plastic that likes to self machine on the pulley and melt to do something as important as time the engine.
But you need one. Tadd, for the fuel tables, there's a great thread in the "SUPER important MegaSquirt threads" thread. |
figures. do i have to remove crank pulley to put the gauge in??
No, just the four bolts that hold the front part on, you can keep the main crank bolt in place.
Oh, and the clarify we call it a lower timing belt cover, not a gauge. |
Gotcha. i will try and find one
youll probably have to remove the water pump pulley. but that's just three 10mm bolts, you dont even need to release the alt.
ok. i just have to find one now. ughhh its always something that has to be missing or go wrong
