We got the MtX fixed so that's out, now it's just the temp settings to get them right

Tadd there is a 10degree marking to go off of on my crank pulley its differnt from yours, when the car is cold it does not like to start or idle untill warm. i have to give it gas as i crank it over for it to start and hold the gas for it to idle untill it warms up a bit. Would that be a timing issue or fuel or even both?

coolant stuck at 170° is the failsafe temp, IIRC. Might be disconnected?

so you you need to change the trigger angle or rotate the cas, so when the timing is locked at 10° it [the mark] lines up with the 10° mark.

well thats the thing it has the marking on the pulley but there is no refernace gauge to to see what it is with a timing light, its the little gague that connects beind the crank pulley and comes out over it and looks like an arrow and has markings on it. i dont have one on my car.

Yeah, it's a little sad Mazda (and many other engine manufacturers) rely on a shitty piece of plastic that likes to self machine on the pulley and melt to do something as important as time the engine.

But you need one.

Tadd, for the fuel tables, there's a great thread in the "SUPER important MegaSquirt threads" thread.

No, just the four bolts that hold the front part on, you can keep the main crank bolt in place.

Oh, and the clarify we call it a lower timing belt cover, not a gauge.

youll probably have to remove the water pump pulley. but that's just three 10mm bolts, you dont even need to release the alt.
