Default Evaporative Emissions

1999 with MS3

I know that the test functions of the Evaporative Emissions will not function with MS3.

However, is it not true that the actual purge functions are self-contained (no ECU intervention required) and operate regardless?

Seems to me I could pull the test functions and still have the purge operate under the normal vacuum conditions.

I know, I know; who cares, rip it all out. But I say, except for some clean up of the compartment, there is no reason not to keep it if it operates and does not screw up the tune. My assumption is the volume of the purge air or fumes is not enough to mess up the tune.

Basic question: is it possible to pull the test parts from the evaporative emissions and keep the actual functioning parts?

Corollary question: If one does nothing, is it not true that no test will ever occur; but the actual function of Evaporative Emissions will continue to operate even with no input from an ECU?

Directly controlled by ECU via connection 3L. OK, out it comes.
