Fidle spark/on-off all the time
As some of you know, I've been having trouble with my LC1 readings. Well, today I drove the car to an autocross, 1 hour away. While in the highway, I decided to turn off all the wb adjustments.
The car runs exactly the same and wb still reads 12-16 and moves up and down really fast while cruising at constant speed. I looked at the screen and notice the FIDLE SPARK/(It says on-off-on-off) it changes all the time. What is this FIDLE SPARK? The injector's duty cycle and pulse width go up and down up and down all the time too, this is what causes the AFR to change. Now almost sure that the problem is not related to the wideband as I said, I turned it's adjustments off. What could the problem be? Something in the spark settings, my coils are bad? (I just put a new igniter so discard that) Any help will be appreciated, thanks |
That's not an issue I have had to deal with because I don't have idle control on my parallel setup. Here is where you can read about the Idle Control Valves
|
My screen shows the same thing....all the time
|
mine does that all the time too from the very first time, I am not sure and have not figured out what it is. And it is not your LC1, mine is bone stock and still has this issue.
|
Not really an issue - the light comes on when the IAC output is on. Since the MS pulses this on and off rapidly on a PWM setup, it's normal for the light to blink.
|
Then why do my injectors' PW and DC fluctuate up and down even at constant speed?
This is causing the AFR be up and down 12-16 and I've been spending a whole lo t of gas |
Can you datalog it and post it back here?
|
take a log of the condition. then look at idleDC. if it's on your know it's fubared something, if not, it's most likely acceleration enrichments or a bad fuel map tune.

so, wtf is fiddle spark?
standard lc-1 questions to ask yourself: is the lc-1 10-20:0-5v for ms? are you using the correct V range for the gauge? is ms configurator set up for this? The DB gauge will sweep some, but when you get it dialed in right, it should be almost steady. Once you get it right with an instantaneous readout, you can throw a little delay in and its much easier to read. |
fidle/spark A
that output can be programed for one or the other. |

Here is my log (75mph at highway, pretty constant speed). Braineck, what do you mean by "fubared something"
|
do you guys see anything strange on the log?
Braineack, do you do tuning work for people? Nobody here in Indy works with MS , just AIM tuning and he wants too much $ way to much $ to tune. |

Well guys, I was messing with the acc.enrichments today. I went to Acceleration Wizard and changed the MAPdot Threshold from 20 to 80 kpa/s. What a difference :) now the AFRs dont jump nearly as much, pretty constant numbers, still not perfect but a lot better.
Braineack was right as usual, accel enrichments... Now, I understand that by changing the MAPdot Threshold to 80kpa the acc. enrichments will take longer to take action? One more question, even though it runs better, the enrichments seem to be "too much". When driving at 40mph in 5th I accelerate slightly and the AFR go from 15 to 12.0-11.0. What can I change to make this change? Can you guys take a look at my settings and suggest? Thanks |
