Default FYI VVT min/max duty and cold weather startups

Hi,

I just wanted to share a finding, that lately really annoyed the hell out of me.

My cold start tests in the cold weather (~0°C/32°F) were very bad, with very rough idling, and hickups during the first minutes of a drive.
Looking at the logs I realized after a while that the VVT angle was way too high, even with minimum duty. (I did the complete setup procedure and found all the sweet spots for
min/max duty etc.)

Problem with the cold weather and quite thick oil (10W60) seems to be, that the VVT is not able to get the VVT angle into the correct position.
I changed the min. VVT duty to 0 and everything was fine again - VVT angle got back to the commanded position.
