Default Learning Software outside the car? (This stuff is sweet!)

I've been on the Megatune site ALL night reading about stuff...and I'm excited lol....I downloaded the megatune software (v2.25) on my desktop and I'm just trying to figure it out so I wont have that hard of a time once the car gets MS.

Anything I can do other than just checking things out and read to familiarize myself with it?

I dunno, jumping the gun, but I figured trying to be informed can't help...I just think this stuff is sweet.

EDIT: I'm reading correctly that I can load/alter maps just by someone sending me a megatune file?
Will this load up since I'm not connected so I can look at stuff for a Natural Aspirated 1.6?

Decide what you want for a baseline on warm up enrichment, acceleration enrichment, decel lean, after start enrichment, air/fuel ratios at different manifold pressures and rpms, ignition advance values (They're not linear, they dip at peak VE??), coil dwell times (cold, cranking and acceleration).

Megatune by itself, isn't that hard. Although, I still haven't bothered to learn how to change the default gauges. That'd be nice to know.

Are you waiting for a pre-built one? If not then I would highly suggest pre-reading the V3 assembly instructions. There are several decisions to make while building. Now would be an excellent time to determine your build path.

Figure out where you want to mount the box. I ended up mounting vertically against the 'V' shaped support to the right of the steering column. The heater blows on the bottom of it but it hasn't been an issue so far.

Post what you learn.

I'm planning on getting a pre-built one, as I'm not that confident with my electrical skills, but I haven't thrown the idea of building my own out of the window entirely...it just scares me.

I do have one question, how come all of the tables I see are 12x12 and the megatune is only 8x8? is that the Sparknextra firmware stuff?

I'd like to do the premade stuff from kingofl337...but what board is that using? the v3 boards?..can't find that info I forgot where I put it..off to search..

I've been thinking about re-writing the build instructions for the miata so people don't have to mess with the choices. I just want to test mine first to make sure I did it correctly I figure it would be easier to just go down the list for those who can solder, but don't necessarily understand cars well enough to understand some of the choices.

I've never even soldered before...so thats why I'm kinda like...eh..might try and get some practice with a friends this weekend...hmmm.

So let me get this straight, there is MS I and MS II, then then different version of the MS II boards? v2 and v3....both of which if I used I can run MS-extra firmware on? right?

MS1 can run MSnSe, not MS2. The majority of the people in this subforum are running/plan to run MS1 with MSnSe. The 12x12 table is due to the MSnSe firmware. I'd say read the MSnSe handbook as that would be a great place to start. Here's the link:
