Default How To - Setup Launch Control / Flat Shift - Basic Edition - NB2 w/ MS3Pro PNP

EDIT: I've been told the wiring portion of this is unnecessary if you have a fully functional 01-05 MS3 Pro PNP ECU with the J6 jumper intact. YMMV.

Today I wired up my NB2 w/ an MS3 ProPnp for Launch Control and flat shift. The process was pretty straight forward, but I found a lot of conflicting info around based on different forum posts and other internet things, so I thought I would do a brief write up here how I set mine up.

Wiring

I had read in a few posts that people somehow got their launch control working with 'stock' wiring. I wasn't able to figure this out. On my NB2, I found ECU pin 4I, which is green/white. This is the wire coming off of the top clutch switch. This is what I used. I simply cut it back about 4" from the ECU plug (wiring in the NBs is so ANNOYING), spliced in a cable and then routed it to options port N. See pic below. Options port in on Greg's post says Digital In 2, but on my setup it is Digital Switch In 1.

Launch Control Setup in Tuner Studio

Here's my setup in Tuner Studio. Note, this is mostly just the defaults, what settings you should use, other than the Input On is beyond the scope of this.

Feel free to validate my post by watching this YT video of be using 2500rpm as a low launch control point to test the setup:

was your J6 jumper removed or something? probably would have been easier to just put that back in.

I dont know what a J6 jumper is. My MS3ProPNP was used. Are you saying that J6 jumper allows the clutch line to work without additional wiring? I suppose I can disconnect the port from options N and see if it all still works as a test.

Appreciate the kind attitude when I'm obviously trying to contribute. The help menus in tuner studio are generic. I read a half a dozen posts, used 2 or 3 reference sites and watched 3 YT videos on it. If you could be so kind to link me to the manual you are talking about, I'll add that to my list before wasting your time next time.

Several jumpers are located on the lower, black circuit board inside the MSPNP. These are accessible by removing the top cover and are indicated as depicted below:

it sounds like the J6 jumper has been removed and its no going through the clutch switch wiring, but out the options connector...

Thanks for the clarification. Yea, I'm not sure on that. Short of the J6 being disconnected, I suppose I could've just been an idiot since this is my first time messing with it and had something misconfigured in Tunerstudio with how the launch control is enabled. I suppose this post can live on as a warning to others, lol.

You might want to clarify that in the original post so people don't follow that blindly before reading further. Incorrect info is usually worse than no info

I added it to the post. I did review the documentation for NB1 and didn't find a reference to the J6 jumper so it looks like that was new for 01-05.
