launch control?

hi everyone, I'm hoping someone can help me here as I'm 50/50 about launch control.
I have a mk1 1.6 eunos and I've installed a td04l turbocharger from a Subaru. the exhaust manifold is a log style manifold, similar to the design used in the youtube series 'mighty car mods' I was told that launch control isn't safe for the engine but I've been told that people with turbo mx5s running launch control is fine by them. can someone please tell me if it can or can not be done?

launch control?

The 1.6 rear differential will fail first. Launch control is not going to cause an immediate failure. But it will cause one eventually.

Of course it can be done.

There are lots of different ways to do launch control, the ones that involve dumping unburnt fuel are the hardest on everything, those are the ones the ricer boys love.

None of it is safe though, it involves taking components under moderately light load and quickly applying all the load. Everything, not just the engine and turbo.

Don't make this you

thank you for the replies, honestly that thread is the one reason I haven't done it already. I had it working before when my car was naturally aspirated but I'm assuming because I had a 4 branch manifold at the time each minature explosion only had one way to go.... out lol with my log manifold I'm worried that an explosion in the manifold will put too much pressure on the other cylinders.

had a think about it, for the coolness of pops and bangs, risking an engine and turbo ain't worth it. plus its my daily car and I hardly use it on the track. don't wanna ruin a perfectly somewhat driveable car lol

Fuel cut is the safest, and fairly safe to do, but not as effective as a spark cut. I run fuel cut on my launch control to be safe. Spark cut is pure hell on a turbo.

well I love spark cut as it tells those tailgating to back off lol oh dear when it was na.... I shot a flame because an Audi was too close tailgating hahaha bright white car black burnt bumper haha

Fuel cut is fine. Easily make a few psi with it. Will you make like 20psi with it? No but you're not going to launch effectively with that much power off the line anyways in a miata.
