Looking for VE/Spark tables for a 1.8 T25.
If you have something decent scaled for around 12psi, let me know. I've got my car idling reasonably well (not perfect, but it will do), so the next step is to at least get a spark map and hopefully a fuel map that will get me into the ballpark. If anyone has any tips on starting from total scratch, let me know as well.

I'll make sure I don't have mine around, double checking now. Tune idle first and then take it for a short datalog drive. Put the datalog in megatune and let it correct itself. Do it again, and one more time. You could also just start driving with autotune running and then just burn it as you go. Would be best to let someone else drive so you can watch the laptop as you go through different cells. Then if you notice something you can change it manually if you feel you need to real fast.
|
I know I can use megatune to do the fuel, but can I use it to do spark as well? Fuel will be easy enough, I really just need a halfway solid spark baseline for my setup.

Just use Al Hounos's spark map unless you can get Jerry to send you his 1.8 map (though I think his 1.8 is setup n/a.) Al's spark map is conservative, i believe it is just like FM's turbo link timing map. Braineack had to add i think 8 degrees to get the same power he used to before megasquirt so that shows you how "safe" (retarded) it is compared to what it could be. Considering you want to heavily track your car you are going to want to get on a loaded dyno and tune your timing. That way unless you just want to do it the old school way and crank it up till you hear knock and back it off a bit.
|
I took Al's map and retarded everying above 101kpa or 1500rpm by an additional 4 degrees, but I just don't have the time to get this thing set up properly by next weekend. I'm going to have someone who knows what the hell they're doing tune the car on a dyno properly so I know it's correct and proper and I won't get any surprises later on.
|
you could have jahunis tune it for you.
|
I thought he had an E-manage? Or does he just know what he's doing?
|
Aparently he knows what he is doing take a ride in his car and it should be clear. He knows what feels right and with abit of dialing in he should be able to tune the MS as easy or easier than his EM.

Lars was running the 1.6L map on a 1.8L and has since swapped to DIY's 1.8L map....works out a lot better. Al's suggest map is FMs defaults. I was able to get away with a tad more out of the non-boosted rows and about 8° at 200kPa. But the FM 1.8L defualts shoudl be a good place to start.....or get a good non-boosted 1.8L map from Jerry, and then start subtracting as to you up the boost. fuel is easy in boost. since you keep a pretty constant kPa throughout once spooled you typically only need to same amount to redline. A few pulls with autotune quickly get you close. then fine tune from there. |
For the spark table I would definately just use someone elses table from a 1.6 right now to get you going. I can post up what diy is using for the na section which to me felt very strong. You could then manually edit the boost sections based on what some 16 maps look like. Send me a pm if u want the table.

Good to know. I was a little worried about the very bottom of the RPM range, since my setup is going to spool a little quicker than a 1.6 T25 and definitely quicker than your 1.6 T3. I'll be on the dyno this afternoon, and hopefully one of the maps I've gotten from this thread will work nicely enough to give me a decent baseline. I'm shooting for a minimum of 220rwhp on 15psi.
|
Which turbo are you using?
I'm hopefully going to have my turbo installed within a few weeks. I've got a BEGI manifold, GT2560R, and old FM Intercooler. I've also got a FM 2.5" exhaust (smaller than I'd like but it was cheap and local), and I'll be running a custom-fabbed divorced-wastegate downpipe. I'm running 440cc RC injectors. I'd be very interested in seeing your maps when you're done with the dyno. -Mike |
I'd start with this for 1.8L map....going to want to add in timing backin boost. Going to from 0-3psi is a 9° drop in timing, but it should be a better starting point than the 1.6L maps.

Tuned today. 198rwhp on 13psi. I think there's something wrong with the ignition system, though, because this spark map seems pretty nutty (even the tuner was saying that if he saw this map, he'd say the car wouldn't even run)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...SparkTable.jpg I figured I'd be around 220rwhp at least, even on 91 pisswater. I will post a datalog in a little bit of a 2-3-4 pull. It's got a really thick rich-spot that needs to be dealt with. |
Did you verify that what your megasquirt thinks is TDC is actually TDC? What is your trigger angle set to?
But yeah, that does look like a really wacky spark map. Could you have some wacky settings with IAT-based timing adjustments or something? -Mike |
i should hope you get more than 225 whp there dammit. GL man What size is your IC anyway no one has mentioned this i believe, what are your ait's in boost?
|
My IC is enormous, 27x8x2.5 IIRC. Fills the entire mouth. Pulling from the middle of 2nd to the middle of 4th, the MATs a couple of days ago went from 78 to 98.
|
If that is farenheit then all looks good but if it is Celcius then you have trouble somewhere. 78 C is like 170 F wich is bad.
|
Had me scared there for a sec. It's in farenheit.
