Megasquirt for 1.6 AND later 1.8 NA

Haven't been able to find anything on this thru searching; how much work would it take to swap a DIYPNP Nippon Denso 76 Pin Unassembled Kit from a 1.6 to a 1.8?

I was thinking of buying it now and learning on my 1.6, but wanted to have the option to use it on a 1.8 if I decide to swap in a BP and turbo it.

You buy the MS based on what year wiring harness you have in the car. The size of the motor does not matter. If you currently have a 90-93 with a 1.6 and are planning on swapping to a 1.8 motor later in the 90-93 chassis you would build the harness for a 1.6 car.

Considering you can run a 1.8 on the stock 1.6 ecu....

So essentially the same amount of work to swap a 1.8 to a 1.6 harness.... how difficult / time consuming?

Do you mean changing the full harness in the car from a 1.6 to 1.8 harness? If that, then it is a complete pain in the ass and not worth it.

If you mean move the diypnp2 from a 1.6 car to a 1.8, it should not be to bad. Simply changing wires around inside the case for the plug. Not sure how involved as I have never built a diypnp2.

Im saying swapping in a 1.8 to a 1.6 car, and making it work on the MegaSquirt that was previously wired to a 1.6....

In that case, you just use the 1.6 wiring and DIYPNP configuration, and retune it for the new motor.
