Default Megasquirt Getting power but no LEDS and won't connect to laptop

So I just installed my megasquirt a few days ago now and when first installed the led lights on the unit illuminated and everything seemed to be getting power, as soon as I attached my laptop to the ecu and tired to connect my laptop did not detect the unit I then looked back down at the unit and noticed that none of the leds were illuminated anymore. I installed all the appropriate drivers, tried both a mac computer as well as windows still no luck connecting or getting leds to illuminate. Car is a 1991 1.6 all stock except for the ecu, wideband, and headers. I tested the stock harness coming out of the car and I have power there and also I have power inside the unit(did some poking around with my meter) Not sure if this is of any relevance but I saw another thread saying that the u5 diode could be the issue I tested that and got ~5v on one side and ~12v on the other side of the diode. I also checked all of my fuses and relays the fuse under the hood was pulled during install but other than that nothing is blown. I also tested my Fuel pump relay earlier today and that is still working. When I turn the key to the on position I noticed that the fuel pump relay clicks on momentarily so I have some hope that my unit is not shot. I also tested all the connections from the 40pin connector on the ecu to the connectors that plug into the stock harness they are all making solid connection and none of the wires are pulled or disconnected. Hope this information helps someone diagnose my issue any other tests or things I should be checking ?

You need to describe the ecu

Does it show up as a com port in the device manager?

I think you might have 2 or 3 threads here on this same issue, that is a good way to get your hand slapped.
