You're outside the efficiency island of the turbo, so you need more intercooling capacity than one normally would. Jumping to a larger or more efficient turbo (shameless plug, like an EFR6258) would help a lot.

I would if I could. The wife would kill me... looks like the 31x12x3 intercooler are also dirt cheap...

considering most ebay cores are complete shit, and some dont even have turboulators? yes.

I'm confused. You say it's shit yet there is a not too old sticky post raving about how great they are. How big a core would you suggest (assuming we'll built with turbulators) for a 275-300whp (dynojet...no mustang) on an 2560r. Basically running the piss out of it.

I know that the cage on the sensor isn't nessessary, but the tc by itself is pretty fragile and looks like fod waiting to happen.

Yes. The eBay intercooler cores are complete crap. They are cheap which is why people buy them, not because they are actually efficient.

That is one very specific inter-cooler that has what appears to be good turbulators and works for low HP builds. Not what you are looking for. The rest are complete junk.

Ok duly noted. Get a better ic.

This is a decent budget core. It is the same one that Fab9 sells much cheaper. You can use the universal mounts that come with it or fab up your own. It is what I recommend to all my customers. I have both the ebay core and this one and the difference dramatic in build quality, inside fins, and total weight.

Not lean re-starts, but a massive jump in IAT? Like 10-20F and more?
Cause that's pretty interesting

I can recreate this scenario at will. PM me for details.

Yeah but you're n/a with sensor near radiator arent you?

Oh shit, awesome! I was looking at the vibrants but assumed they were the same as ebay judging by the price.

They are similar (mediocre) design, but much sturdier

Sturdier is nice, but do they cool the charge well?

18psi 07-03-2016 04:30 PM

Probably better than the dinky "delta-fin" coolers with almost no turbulators, but also probably nowhere near that of a high quality core like garrett, bell, or precision.

No proper testing on a miata though. But you can find much testing on other cars/platforms that confirms this.

Treadstone

Meh. I looked inside Vibrant's cores at their booth at PRI last year. Nothing exciting. Precision's 350hp unit is 2x the price, but it's worth the extra cash. If you are going to go cheap, look at Treadstone, not Vibrant.

Our kits will use Precision 350s. Precision 350hp @ Trackspeed
