You're outside the efficiency island of the turbo, so you need more intercooling capacity than one normally would. Jumping to a larger or more efficient turbo (shameless plug, like an EFR6258) would help a lot.

Is it normal to overpower the standard 27x7x2.5 ebay intercooler with a 275 whp 2560r build?
I know that the cage on the sensor isn't nessessary, but the tc by itself is pretty fragile and looks like fod waiting to happen. |

I'm confused. You say it's shit yet there is a not too old sticky post raving about how great they are. How big a core would you suggest (assuming we'll built with turbulators) for a 275-300whp (dynojet...no mustang) on an 2560r. Basically running the piss out of it.

Ok duly noted. Get a better ic.

This is a decent budget core. It is the same one that Fab9 sells much cheaper. You can use the universal mounts that come with it or fab up your own. It is what I recommend to all my customers. I have both the ebay core and this one and the difference dramatic in build quality, inside fins, and total weight.

You're logging a consistent significant increase in IAT in the logs?
Not lean re-starts, but a massive jump in IAT? Like 10-20F and more? Cause that's pretty interesting |
Yeah but you're n/a with sensor near radiator arent you?

They are similar (mediocre) design, but much sturdier

Probably better than the dinky "delta-fin" coolers with almost no turbulators, but also probably nowhere near that of a high quality core like garrett, bell, or precision.
No proper testing on a miata though. But you can find much testing on other cars/platforms that confirms this. |
