Move IAT sensor to Intake manifold?
 

Why not? I have the DIY autotune Maf eliminator setup, and the radiator fan blows hot air from the radiator right on to the sensor and the metal pipe. Would I get more accurate readings?

I need to move mine...it's just off the TB in front of the a/c fan. Once the fan turns on the pipe and sensor heat soak like a bitch and never seem to drop back down. Paul saw similar readings, moved it just out of his IC down below.

If the IM is already off I'd tap it. ;)

How about a heat shield around the iat?

If you go to the IM, would you tap it for the bung or elimante the bung and just use the IAT?

I'd drill the hole in the intake, tap it, and move the sensor from the MAF eliminator pipe to the back of the intake manifold. hopefully no more heatsoak from radiator.

Why bandaid a problem when you can fix it?

Since I use the NB IM, its a 5 minute job to pull the upper half :)

I don't get any heatsoak-caused leaning out at all.

Mine heatsoaks pretty well. I don't have time to relocate it yet, I'm just going to make a little heat shield and hope for the best until I have time to.

Megamanual recommends against mounting the open element IAT's directly in the manifold. I may move the IAT from the metal pipe and into the actual filter to see what happens.

I'm gonna say do NOT mount it in the intake manifold. On my 99, that intake manifold gets pretty damn hot. Could also cause heatsoak as well. If you were turbo I'd put the sensor just after the intercooler.

Mine is right before the TB, and it heatsoaks like HELL. 150-170*F readings I'm not cruising, then it drops to 130*F.

My old Miata had it in my BEGI Intake Manifold and I had no issues. Current car has it in my Intercooler pipe right before the T-Body. I'm getting a pretty stead reading so far so I am not too worried.

I noticed my intake pipe is very close to the upper rad hose. The pipe there is noticeably hotter than the pipe before it. That has to be warming up the sensor some too. Would it be best to wrap the rad hose or build a heat shield?

mines heat soaking as well, though not as badly as some of yours. I second (or third?) moving it closer to the intercooler as well. I wish they weren't made of fucking brass or copper or whatever and designed in some way so they could not heat soak.

I have my IAT right next to the TB. The only times I see high temps is when the car sits after it was driven and shut off. The the IAT heat soaks and temps go up to 136*. I adjusted my IAT correction to fix that issue. While driving the temps are down under
94*. If I sit and idle for a while the temps climb to around 101* or so. I don't have a problem with it where it sits.

Why not just face it to the passenger side of the pipe. I did that and its not in the way of the rad at all, sits near where the carbon canister used to.

that's where mine is. heat soaks like a champ. I believe it's more to due with the pipe being Mild Steel and retaining all the heat. I can see 120*F at idle sitting long enough. I'm moving mine tonight, i decide to become unlazy and just do it. I'm tired of seeing my AITs drop when I hit boost.
