Default MS finally ordered

As the title says, i finally ordered a real EMS. Thank god, I've been reading as much as possible on the MS section of this forum for the last 6 months, so maybe i can figure this out with minimal questions.

This is what I ordered:

Products
------------------------------------------------------
1 x GM Boost Control Solenoid (GM_BoostSol) = $24.00
1 x GM Boost Control Connector w/ 6" Pigtail (GMBoostPiggy) = $14.50
1 x USB to Serial Adapter - Works with MegaTune! (USB-2920) = $20.00
1 x MSPNP IAT Sensor Kit - Steel Bung (MSPNP_IAT-S) = $29.00
1 x MegaSquirtPNP MM9093 for the 1990-93 Mazda Miata, manual tranny (MSPNP-MM9093) = $700.00

Heh, w00t. Cant wait for some real power, none of this 5 psi bullshit.

Along with those 440s in your sig, sounds like you've got the beginnings of a winner.

I'm not planning on messing with the EBC quite yet. Plan is to get the ms running good then implement the ebc once i got everything figured out.

Thanks for the kind words, i cant wait.

If there is still time to change your order, you may want to consider the following upgrades:

* VTPS mod (not absolutely necessary, but could solve some idle issues, and will make it easier to add EBC once you're ready for it)

* MapDaddy 4.0 bars sensor (useful if you go up and down mountains, useless if you live in a flat land)

DIYAutotune can do these mods for a very modest price.

Hmm, well I didn't get to read this before the order was shipped. I know about the VTPS, and I was planning on doing it eventually. Is there something inside the MS that has to be rewired for the VTPS, or can I just add one to my throttle body later?

And also, what is this MapDaddy? I live at 7200 feet, and go up and down from there often. I'm guessing its just a bigger 4 bar map sensor, but why would I need that? Considering my intake manifold pressure is pretty much within the same pressure ranges of a car at sea level. Ie: 19 vac, 14 psi max.

Thanks for the heads up.

Since this is a PnP (and not a regular MS) there is an internal mod required to the PnP daughterboard. Link: http://megasquirtpnp.com/models/mm90...m#Section_Five

Actually, it's two 4-bar MAP sensors. One for MAP, one for realtime barometric correction.

It's a common misconception that you need the MAPdaddy to get realtime barometric compensation. This is not true. Assuming you don't need to run more than 250kPa of MAP (roughly 22PSI of boost at sea level, or about 25PSI where you live) then you can accomplish this by simply adding a second 2.5bar MAP sensor. (Both the primary and secondary sensors must be of the same type.)

MAPdaddy happens to make it a bit easier to install, since all the circuitry is packaged on a single board- you just install it in place of the regular sensor and then add one jumper wire. To do it with a regular sensor, you have to sort of glue it upside-down to the bottom of the board and tack a couple of components in various places.

Wow, thanks for the quick reply.

Looks like I will be looking into doing these mods. Thanks for the info.
