MS-II v3.0 - Crank input trouble
Hello,
Hoping someone can help out. I'm working on putting a traditional MS-II v3.0 into a 1997 base miata I acquired recently and have run into some trouble getting the crank input to be recognized. without crank, I am getting no RPM indication in TunerStudio. I followed the DIYautotune writeup for the setup of CMP and CKP inputs. Input is being simulated with a jimstim set to 4G63 mode on a 9V battery currently. I also imported their MSq and made a few changes to mimic the newer 3.4.4 firmware and my current I/O list (see below).
I/O list
1) standard I/O for sensors, Crank in on Tach in
2) CAM in on Pin 5/Spare 3 to JS10 with capacitor filter and pull-up
3) Clutch in via IAC1B pin to JS7
4) Fan control via IAC1A to JS0
5) Tach out on IAC2B from JS5
6) Flex Fuel in on Spare 2 to JS11
7) Boost Control on IAC2A to JS2 (not built yet)
8) D15 to Spare 1 for AC WOT cutout
9) Knock input on JS6 (knocksenseMS, not installed yet)
10) D14 and D16 for ignition out (will be using LS coils)
I have done the following.
1) Checked and followed the cam signal all the way to JS10 with an oscilloscope, and can see the wave all the way to the JS10 connection under the MS-II daughter board.
2) followed the crank signal to VRin with the 'scope. VR out to TSEL is dead. No wave form.
3) Tested R54 for lowest voltage and can get to .54v DC with the pots turned all the way down
What I can't seem to figure out is why the VR conditioner is completely killing the JimStim's signal. As far as I can tell, if I can get the waveform through to VR-IN, I should get RPM sync and be good to go.
Thanks!
