Default MS and immobilizer

Hi Folks

My car is currently a standard Mk1 UK spec, so has the PATS immobilizer system with an RF transponder in the keys. If I'm going to switch to stand-alone MS management, I'll lose this functionality right? Are there any simple ways to replace it short of installing an aftermarket alarm?

Thanks all

Your immobilizer will continue to work properly, the car won't start without your key.

So the immobilizer isn't controlled by the current ECU?

Its controlled by an independent module that talks to the ECU. If there is no stock ECU, the engine will still not turn over without your coded key.

Not to steal this thread, but on my '02, I have a blinking light with a car with a key in it, what does it mean? The car runs fine, but the blinking light is distracting. Any ideas how to get rid of it?

Yes, remove the light bulb. No other way around it.

Paint it black or use a BFO hammer
