Default video of starting probs

so i'm having trouble getting my car going on the MS2, see this thread https://www.miataturbo.net/megasquirt-18/ms-wont-run-map-sensor-connected-56590/.

for some reason i cant get the logger to work right, so i made this video. if y like to see any of my settings just ask.

93 miata with a rebuilt 1.8.
brain built MSII
just upgraded to the newest firmware
using the DIYPNP map for the 90-93 miata

i know the car runs fine on the stock ECU

have you even posted a log of what happens when you try to get it running for others to go over?

log and tune should allways be posted when wantting help
saw what you said on logs not showing up in megalogviwer, post one up anyways, maybe someone elses log viewer will open it fine

if you don't have a vtps, disconnect it for time being if it was wired in the haraness and just have it use 100% mapdot for accel enrichments, don't even want to use the stock non-vtps for anything

Didn't it come loaded with an MSQ from Brain? Was it built with the sequential injection mod? Or are you running the 1.8 in batch fire?

When I had starting issues a couple weeks back, it was the injector settings and a lean VE table that gave me issues.

Are you running the stock narrowband? Is it set up in TS for narrowband?

ive read your thread a hundred times, it's been helpful.

It did have an MSQ when brain sent it to me, but i thought it may have been corrupted possibly. i sent him a PM asking to send me the MSQ again, but he never sent one. thats why im using the diypnp msq.

as to whether or not it's wired for sequential injection, i never asked for it, and it isnt written on the bottom of the MS. so i dont think so.

in your tune you have ego control setup with single wideband, I would suggest disabling it or changing it to narrowband, Also are you using secondary fuel load or did it just come with the tune like that? May want to disable that as well.

When I wasn't running a TPS I took my TPS wire and grounded it until I used it

I take its a pcb v3 ms2? if so is it joes mod for the spark output?

Do you have a timing light you could use to check with when someone is trying to turn on the engine? Maybe spark timing is off too much

I blame fuel.

Double check MAP sensor, make sure you dont have kinky hoses, and all connections are right.

Increase cranking enrichment and post-start enrichment.

i fixed the ego setting and turned off the secondary fuel load.

spark timing is mechanically set by the cas at this point isnt it? i know its at 10 degrees on the stock ECU, would it change that much with the MS?

If you haven't checked it with the timing light on the MS, you've not done your due diligence. The stock ECU knows that when CAS sends a signal, the engine is at X degrees. You have to TELL the MS where the engine should be when the CAS sends that same signal.

the consensus seems to be a lean condition. i already adjusted the ASE and cranking pulse settings somewhat, i dont know how much is too much though.

could i just fudge the numbers in the required fuel caclulator and skew the whole fuel map richer?

You can grab a timing light and see what its sparking at when someone trys to start it. From there you can advance or retard timing in tunerstuido based on where you saw the timing marks if at all and retry to start it.

that or you can advance or retard timing a few degrees and see if either way makes it easier to start

yeah you can use that or adjust trigger angle/offset(deg) under basic setup > ignition options
