N/A 1996 MSQ and a little help to make sure I get this right.
Hey, I am installing my megasquirt today on my 96, N/A to get it working and bugs sorted out. Does anyone have a decent MSQ for this that should get me at least started?
I have it wired as per this thread here:
https://www.miataturbo.net/megasquir...7-build-67571/
In there it refers back to a westfield tune but I cannot find it on his site anymore as that thread is over a year old.
I am sure I can figure it out but as I need this to drive to work tomorrow I am hoping someone might have something that can help me speed up the process.
I had originally setup my MS3x for my 1990 but never installed it in the car, and did all the board mods as such using the stickys in this forum for the 1990.
I have 1ZZ coils I am also wiring in today to go along with this, I plan on wasted spark setup for simplicity.
So is there anything I am missing or forgetting?
Thanks!

Frank's site is here:
Frank's Westfield MX5
That is presumably the site you referred to. I believe he has a few MSQs stored somewhere.
you could also check the DYIPNP web page. Their setup is a very good start.
Don't change too many things at the same time. Just run the stock ignition and when you have everything working, then switch coils. Otherwise if you have spark problems you won't know where they come from.

Got it running today! Cannot get the Tach to work on Tach output for some reason and not 100% sure on Idle control settings either but I drove it around for a bit and it worked.
Would like to get an MSQ still to compare some cold start enrichment and other odd things.
Also the car just randomly stumbles from time to time... Not sure what that is about.

Fan works, Tach works and it sorta idles, but not well. but I am really stumped on the random stumble. Also I haven't really used a megasquirt since the days of megatune so learning tunerstudio is also another curve.
Tonight with the help from a friend we drove around and played with some settings, turned off a bunch of things to try and get the stumble to leave. I had some wonky settings in the IAC that would make the car stall and die which we resolved but I am unable to get it to drive or idle smooth.
I went in and reset all the inside resistors thinking it was a VR issue, I didn't have a working multimeter handy so I did it as per Westfield MX5s reccomendation of counting turns. No dice.
My friend was mentioning that sometime it flashes TPS accel(or something to that effect) in yellow when running VE analyze as it stumbles, But from what I can see it doesn't even activate enrichment so I am not sure.
So here are 2 log files, one of a pull, one of a "stumble" event.
I also included my MSQ.
Does anyone see anything that can help me out? It would be much appreciated.

Didn't look at your tune, but I see one main issues: Your VE table sucks. Your AFRs are all over the place. When you blip the throttle all the sudden everything goes pig-rich.
Also your MAT reads much higher than makes sense. Are you tuning in a Sauna?
Drive around carefully and slowly with the engine warmed up while running Autotune. That should fix most your problems.
-> see if that stumble persists.
Then tune accel enrichment.

I was unable to find any direct indications of what's happening in your log. I see the drop in rpm, but there is no cause evident to me. So more questions/suggestions
- Is the MS controlling your idle rpm?
- Could this be something external- for example the fan or the AC compressor coming on?
Edit: your tune (VE) is still totally crappy. When your rpms drop, your AFR drops all the way to the bottom. Fix that!

If the ignition breaks up the wideband would show rich. Can't fix that till I fix the inherent problem I think.
Fan is already on in the last case, No AC
MS controls the IAC.
Tried a different base tune, still does it. Some settings were slightly different. Also put a set of known good coils and new plugs just to be sure. Still got it.
Should I start messing with the noise filtering? I am certain it is ignition breakup but the wheel logger shows a decent signal so I am confused.

My dwell and spark durations are higher than yours (stock '99 coils on mine). I have 4.5ms dwell and 0.7ms max duration.
Also why do you have a latency of 21ms? AFAIK Miatas shouldn't need that. Even though that's not likely to be your problem at idle.
But if your coils are running on the edge with the short dwell, that may explain why you drop sparks when the engine has warmed up. But please verify what the correct dwell time is for your coils before you just copy what I have.
