Default NA VVT MS3pnp Base timing issue

I am having issues setting the base timing in my NA Miata with a MS3pnp and VVT motor set up with a cam and crank sensor Using the trigger wizard I can only get the timing to -5 degrees retarded. The offset is set to -20, going to a greater negative number does not make any more changes. The car has NB2 coils and I have tried switching the wiring, this makes the timing even farther off.
MS settings

Miata 99-05

Failing edge

Wasted spark

Spark

CMP

Normal

If I switch to running the car with the CAS the car runs perfect, but this doesn’t allow me to use the vvt. I have checked the timing belt timing along with verifying the TDC marks on the damper.
I am at a loss as to what may be causing this issue. Any help would be great.
