Default ms1 v3 eunos1.6 first of many..

HI guys.
I have a ready build ms1 v3 brought from a guy on ebay, has been tested on a stimulator. I have also brought a loom adaptor to plug direct into the eunos loom from megasquirtuk.co.uk

I have plugged it all together and disconnected the coils,
I have a serial/usb connector, 1 I brought and another that came with MS1.

I have downloaded tunerstudio MS Lite v2.5.00
First stages, create a project, gave file name etc,

Now..I am trying to select FIRMWARE but it will not connect? I have read up before posting and learnt about the comm ports so my settings are COM1,BPS9600,Data bits 8, Parity NONE, Stop bits 1, Flow control None.

In the communication settings for tunerstudio I have Driver:RS232 serial(default)
connection type: rs232 serial port
connection settings,
Port: COM1
Baud rate: 9600

I test port and FAILS..

Can anyone help me over this first hurdle.

What does the Test/detect function come up with?? Have you confirmed your plugged into com1??... If so try updating your driver for the adapter

Test just Fails. When I plugged in the lead it searched for drivers and installed. I then checked the com port settings as in my first post and also to the same com for the tunerstudio settings.

You might make sure that the driver is showing its properly installed in the device manager, some of the cheaper usb to serial devices don't work proper.

i have been into device manager, serial coms properties, I checked for updates and all up to date, status was Device working properly.

Com port and speed match in both device manage and tunerstudio. I have also just tried uninstalling the previous leads and installed an adapter from my work which is used for data transfer and not a cheapy. still no joy. Should at any point I see any LED's alight? as yet I haven't with ignition on.

thanks for help so far.

the fifo buffers turned off? Also was it you that tested it on the stim? I'd hook it back up to the stim and try seeing if you can connect to the MS that way. As two of the lights should at least come on if the MS is properly setup

Are you wired in direct or using a harness adapter? You might check your grounds and power lead. though its missing a few of the images it still has the direct wiring picture MS Harness Assembly - Miata Turbo FAQ might check your grounds and +12V

edit: didnt see that you are using the harness, I'd still check the grounds and 12V

Think its the top image that's not shown that I need, 1990 1.6 eunos. It's only 2 plugs not the 3.

Me again after a long delay! due to work commitments the megasquirt project has been gathering dust........ However I am now back to it!

Other than the connection problems I had I have found the MS1 v3 I have is not fully ready so I need detailed info on the mods for Cam angle sensor and the mazda coil.
