need some serious help with ms3 pro pnp
alright you all, so i followed all the installation steps to include connecting the map wites to the maf sensor, connecting the vacuum line to the manifold, and connecting all of the ecu plugs to the ms3 itself. i turned the key to the ON position and went intovtuner studio to load the base mapcand it said the controllerncould not be found. the screen says i need to install some COM port drivers, but how? this always seems to happen to me with stuff like this https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...4840b9291.jpegkey is on, dash ismon radio is on and it cant find the ms3 pro pnp |
can you see any COM port in the device manager?
|
Figure out what USB cable you have. It's likely either an FTDI or Prolific cable. When you figure that out, google "FTDI driver" or "Prolific driver".
If you purchased the USB cable from DIYAutotune or EFIAnalytics, I believe they both have driver downloads on their product pages. |
ifigured it out. it was the ftdi driver. car is running now, just incredibly rich. either that or i have a fuel leak. will find out this afternoon |
can i send some logs to one of you to se why i'm getting 7mpg's?
|
Try tuning your fuel.

okay so i installed my megasquirt and installed a new fuel pump. i'm running the 1.6 base tune and i have a narrowband o2. i got about 7 miles to the gallon today driving to and from work and i don't understand why. i could either be running super rich or i have a fuel leak. i'm letting the car cool right now so i can troubleshoot later. i'll post the logs i took this morning to see if any of you guys see anything fishy. for some reason i'm unable to open them in megalog viewer.

So, you don't have a wideband?
|
no. i don't have a proper bung and this exhaust comes off on friday anyway
|
I'd try tuning it after Friday, then.

You have to tune it.
it plugs in and starts as advertised but you need to pay for dyno time also. Dann |
i fixed it. had an o ring leaking on injector 4. she's all good til friday now

Base tunes aren't for driving. They are for getting it cranked so you can tune it.
How many threads are you going to start asking the same questions? Which shall I consider the real one? |

How is your narrowband currently installed into the exhaust? Is it threaded into something that looks suspiciously like a o2 bung?

it's in there, lol. metal clamps and a lot of exhaust sealer
Washing down your engine with gas, is really really bad for its health. It will be surprising if this car lives until Friday, or much after thAT.. |

I dont understand, all O2 sensors Ive ever dealt with narrow or wide, had the same thread size. What the hell did you buy?

Don't bother posting log without a wideband. Won't be able to tell anything.
|
Post all of your engine mods and upload a .msq and .msl.

Maybe he's extraordinarily experienced with these. I've only been doing this for about 10 years. The only time I've ever seen stand-alone megasquirt without a wideband was at a race car shop that was very experienced with tuning. Once they had a car completely tuned on the dyno they would remove the oxygen sensor and controller for the actual races. Can't afford a $150 wideband but must have a turbo, lol. Must have a spare engine and lots of free time. |
A narrowband will work to tune stoich cruise.
|
The USB to serial adapter needs drivers. Can you open up "Device manager" on your laptop and show us a screenshot?

You are trying to turbo your daily driver without backup wheels? That's unadvisable.

i ordered the mkturbo kit so i have a wideband but i can't install it because the exhaust doesn't have a bung on it. the way my factory o2 is installed i have to keep it as is until i put the turbo stuff onto the car. it's currently metal clamped and exhaust sealed into a hole that i couldn't tap because the metal is harder than the tap that i have, and it's a cheap ebay turbo i got awhile ago. the bung is too far from the factory o2, and the bung directly faces the transmission so even if i were to try to install it it would not work. as it stands i'm running the base tune with the tweaks suggested until friday afternoon when i get off of work, and then i'm going to remove all of the na stuff from the car, install all the turbo stuff (including the exhaust with a properly placed 02 bung and the wideband) and go from there. i figured out what my initial problem was like i stated in the "pig rich" post and have everything i need to make it right after i go on leave from work on friday.

Car cuts off after driving
hey guys. i don't know why but my car cuts off after driving it for more than a few minutes or so. i dropped off my son at school (about a 7 minute drive) and after accelerating and cruising and all of that i cam to a red light, clutch in, and the car just died. same happened on the way home. can i post a log and tune here to see if y'all catch anything?

Bouncing Idle

good morning! so i got my car pretty squared away as far as running and driving is concerned but i still need to rope in my idle. with the help of some very good friends i was able to keep it from oscillating between 1500 and 200 rpm. now it's kind of lightly bouncing between 950 and 1100. can y'all see any changes i need to make from my log and tune to get it to settle down around ~900 like it ought to be? i appreciate the help guys.
edit: i'm going to run another shorter log and attach it. i exceeded the limit by like .48kb |
