I am at the point where the engine is ready to run on my 99 project with an enhanced ms2, i had not used my registered tuner studio for a few months since the last time i worked on my na that has a ms1 pnp.
When i started the program got the window prompting me to update the software to 2.5.05 and i did and the continued with the start up instructions for the enhanced ms2 selecting the ecu definitions emailed by Dimitris and everithing was fine until i got to the "test com port" section; Well i could not connect to the new enhanced ms2, so this is what i have tried so far:

-I updated the old usb adapter driver that i have used previously.
-Got and installed a new usb adapter and drivers
-Changed usb to com2 from com9
-Selected auto find devises on tuner studio and it did not detect the ecu
-Connected the rs232 cable directly to the rs232 plug on my laptop docking station com1 and attempted to connect to the ecu without success.
- I also took the laptop to where i store my na that has an ms1 pnp and connected it to the ecu and tuner studio is not able to find the ms1, i have used tuner studio on this ecu many times (3 months ago was the last time i did)

Well i don't know what i am doing wrong here but would greatly appreciate any and all the help i can get.

What version of windows are you using?

Did you do into Device Manager to make sure there's no issues with the drivers?

Sounds like maybe you're not using the right COM port if you can't connect via RS-232 directly or the serial drivers are f'd up.

I did and there was an issue with the usb adapter that i have been using for a long time so i downloaded a new driver for it and atempted to install it without sucsess, i then purchasd a new adapter and the drivers and that installed ok, but it would still not connect to either ecu.
I have a friend coming this evening with the laptop that he uses for tuning his ms2, unfortunatley (for me) his ms has a usb connection so we will be out of luck if the problem is the adapter. He was a computer repair guy at best buy when in college so i hope fhat he may be able to figure out if there is anything else wrong that is the problem.

Bahurd you have a very good point, i have done things like that in the past but i did have the ignition on this time and that brings up another issue i have, my fuel pump runs all the time when the ignition is on, was expecting it to run for just a few seconds and go off so i hooked up my battery charger to make sure that the bat voltage did not drop too much.

Fail again this evening with my friend and his computer, i supose that what i will do next is to buy a new tuning cable from dyi and see if i can find a pnp extension harness (any sugjestions?) so i can get the ms from under the dash to see if it is runing some how, i know that it is getting power because the wideband powers when the ignition is turned on and it gets power from the ms

in the device manager ( How To Access Device Manager From the Control Panel in Windows 7 ) on the usb to serial does it show a triangle or anything? Error code 10 is a big deal on a lot of cheaper usb to serial devices, I've got a collection of drivers that fix it for windows 7 and windows 8.

The windows automatic drivers is broken for them, every time you plug in the device it will download their driver and break it. Which is why I kept having the issue even after installing a known working driver.

I downloaded the driver from dyi, and it seelms to be working beeping when i plug it in but i am willing to try your drivers if you can email them to me at hhammerly@gmail.com. Thank you for the advice

Worked with Dimitris today and it apears that there may be an issue with the MS so i got it out of the car and ordered the harness extension $$$$ ouch!!
He also sujgested i plug in the oem ecu to see if it is working and the car srarted up right away and run at idle, i was pretty surprised because i have id1000 injectors and no mass air flow sensor but at least know that the gm coils and injectors are ok and the engine has good oil press etc after a complete rebuild.
I will be doing some testing of the ms when i get the instructions.

Beniac remotley reloaded the ms firmware this morning and the problem went away, turn out that sonething on the EBC circuit is making the ecu loose the firmware.
At least the car is runing and i can start tuning without EBC.

My apologies for the incoherent posts on this thread from this Argentinian Swiss writing in a hurry in english on a phone that has a keyboard made for a mouse, i will put more effort into my posts in the future.
