Ok, I'm stuck.
HI, I'm new here on this forum.
I have a '91 1.6L miata, sr20 t25 turbo, and 430cc black top Supra injs, and a MS v3 main board soon to be installed. I intend to install my MS in parallel along with my stock ecu. I also have no idea where the stock ecu is located lol. It's not where I thought it would be. Right now I'm having software issues with my MS. I cannot find the EasyTherm to download metioned in this thread: https://www.miataturbo.net/forum/t13676/ Using the following link: http://www.megamanual.com/files/soft...ll_Install.zip It only shows a MS logo. I also tried to open MegaTune and it says- "The selected communication port (COM1) could not be opened. To fix this click communications->Settings and change port, then click File->Offline to connect to your ECU." It does this no matter what COM port I use or what USB port I use my MegaSquirt ECU will not connect to my laptop. |
Under passenger's floorboard. As far as everything else goes I'm a MS retard (never used it) so I'm of no help there.

Are you using a built in serial port or a USB adapter?
|
USB adapter
|
A lot of people have had that problem. What you need to do is make sure that:
1) your driver software for the usb is installed 2) your com for the usb and for megasquirt are the same com (typically between one and four is what you want) 3) make sure that megasquirt is connected to your car and the car is on ACC |
ALso if you got a $3 egay usb>serial just call it quits now and buy a good one.
|
buy the one from DIYautotune! (usb thingy)
|
Newegg.com has the same USB to serial converter for less.. plus free shipping.
works perfect for me |

Where can I find the driver for this? I've downloaded so much crap for this thing that I probably missed it. 3.Do I realy have to have the ECU in the car to do this? It's a PITA to have an ECU in the car if it's not working. Also I bought everything including my USB adapter from DIYautotune.com so this thing should work. |
find out the specific usb adapter you have! go to google type in blah blah blah driver software and bam!
|
Cables Unlimited
USB 2.0 toRS232 serial adapter I found the driver cd in the box my MS came in! I had no idea that a silly cable would need a driver! :) So now the (com1) glitch has been solved. Now I need to get the Easy Therm. Where can I get that? I also need to somehow test the ecu. This thread has been helpfull so far, thanks! |
WTF! mine didnt come with that!
|
If you're having trouble finding the driver for the Cables Unlimited adapter, download it here:

Ok guys or ladies. So what exactly does this Easy Therm do and where can I get it if I need it?
|
|
I use an ebay PCMCIA-to-DB9 adapter card. That way I don't have to worry about a USB cable shaking loose. The card sits quite solidly in my laptop. It works fine.
