Though I haven't actually tried it (I'm just tossing around some ideas in this thread) I can't see why you couldn't setup the MBC like normal, leaving EBC off and not even plumbed in yet. Then once you have your MBC setup like you want it, for your lower boost level, you'd plumb the EBC in downstream. When it's off it would have no effect, you could test that to confirm and your MBC boost curve should be just as it was before. When you activate EBC you couldn't lower boost below the MBC setting you had, but you could increase it and smooth it out.
The benefits of EBC aren't just increasing boost, but controlling where in the RPM range you want it, which lets you smooth out your boost curve. Check out the dyno chart of Ben's car at www.megasquirtpnp.com and you'll see the difference of what we were able to do on his car with EBC vs MBC. So in my pea-brain, I'm thinking it would go: Charge-pipe > MBC > EBC > Wastegate Actuator I'll have to test this on our car when we get it together... parts are coming in.... |
Yes this should work but the non linear nature of most MBC's and there venting charateristics would make it hard to tune in my opinion. I would just go ebc and WG pressure. Cause if it is a squib driving your car you don't want all the hp on tap and even at WG pressure our cars can become a handfull real quick. BTW jerry needs more updates on the car said parts will be installed on. ;) And if you have a pean brain mine is the size of a electron ;)

I agree they're typically not linear, but if they're consistent at least then you could tune around it. If they're inconsistent then that would be a problem. The car we're doing up is our '91 1.6l car. Without trying to thread-jack a quick rundown is--
That about does it for now. Everything but the rollbar and exhaust bits are on order now or enroute. I'll order those last bits soon. |
