Default Radiator fans

Hello I just bought a DIYPNP second hand and I’m trying to figure out how to turn on the radiator fans on idle. Whenever the car is sitting on idle the temperature would slowly creep up to H and the fan wouldn’t turn on. People are saying that I should update my firmware. Would that help me find the fan controller?

thank you

Probably not. Reading the manual probably will. http://www.msextra.com/doc/pdf/Megas...erence-1.5.pdf

The fan control menu you'll find in there may only control one of your fans. The second one is usually controlled by a different output.

Pro Tip: ctrl+F allows you to search for key words.

EDIT: You didn't attach your tune so I can't check for you but there's a good chance the fan control settings are correct and you have a different issue. If the fan settings look good then make note of the output being used for that fan. Then use output test mode to see if it even comes on.

I’ve tried searching everywhere and found nothing. I exhausted all the forums and asking other people and couldn’t find a answer. That’s why I’m asking here.

I linked the document that shows it. Open the document and go to page 97.

You didn't say any of that. You posted the main tunerstudio screen and said you couldn't find the fan control. To me that means you don't know where to look. That doesn't say "I know where it is suppose to be but it isn't there."

So when you go to this menu you don't see the fan control option? Please attach your tune file.

Sorry I am indeed an idiot. I missed the part where you said this is a DIYPNP. Go to Boost/Advanced-->Programmable on/off outputs

One of those outputs needs to be configured to control your fan. That's how it's done on megasquirt 2

in the picture I sent I don’t have a boost/Advance setting neither do I have a programmable on/off output. I even tried searching on the search box in tunerstudio and nothing.

I don't own a DIY, but this looks pretty close to me

I used a basemap for a DIYPNP that I had for those instructions since I don't have yours. Please post your tune.

After a quick inspection of your tune, whoever told you to upgrade your firmware is pretty right.

so if I update the firmware I’ll be able to control my fans? Also if I do update my firmware am I able to use my current tune or use another base map?

Updating may give you the programmable output option I was referencing but you won't know what, if any, output is actually wired to your fan.

The ms2 has a weird fan control location in programmable outputs, but I'm not sure where yours is.

I’m going to updating my ECU to the latest firmware and see if that works. Can I use the update firmware feature in Tunerstudio to update it?

Fan control is under:
Extended > Output port Settings > PM5 Warmup
Your fan is set to turn on at 196F.

As for updating, download update files for MS2 from https://www.msextra.com/downloads/, then Tools > Update/ Install Firmware > follow prompts. (it will keep your current tune but back up your project and tune just in case)
