I'm trying to remove the pops & bangs from my exhaust.
They appeared after switching to full 3" and adjusting the tune slightly to compensate for increased boost in higher rpm range.
While doing so, also tuned out some annoying hiccups at lower rpms. All good, except now I've got those bangs from the exhaust.
Bangs appear after releasing throttle, or applying clutch (no throttle), or just slight on throttle.
There is usually just one bang, no more.
I've been trying to remove the bangs by adjusting:
- VE map, lower ranges (first more fuel, like idle), then less fuel
- Over run fuel cut
And you need to make sure that your throttle position percentage is properly calibrated if you are going to hit that 1% every time, otherwise you should raise that slightly
With all the tips above, I managed to reduce the bangs, but they were never fully gone.
Last months I have been improving the tune, trying lots of things, but I still cannot get rid of those bangs from the exhaust.
BANG: when I lift throttle, and apply throttle afterwards. (No bang after lifting...only a bang when going back on throttle)
WHEN: Not all the time, sometimes it's gone for a few times (lift / apply), then it's back for several times.
TRIED:
- enable / disable overrun fuelcut, and when enabled experimenting with different settings
- VE MAP, various lower and higher values in bottom rows (even added a 15Kpa row)
- IGN MAP, various lower and higher values in bottom rows (even added a 20 Kpa row)
Sometimes it gets a bit better, sometimes worse, but I almost get the feeling I'm not turning the right ***** to solve this issue.
It really annoys me, this loud bang. I would rather have some nice crackles after lifting, then having a loud bang while applying throttle.
Anyway, open to all suggestions to fix this issue.
(my maps are kinda the same as posted in start post, at the moment)
The burble comes from low ignition timing and no fuel cut, the bangs are big amounts of fuel, I’m not on a laptop right now, doesn’t MS have a feature to slowly reenable fuel vs all at once?
Curly, based on the images in the first post, yes. That sounds like a good idea to progressively transition fuel and/or timing and maybe try reducing the 2 second EGO delay from down to 1 or zero to see if that helps. One change at a time, not in any order...progressive fuel, timing, EGO delay. Too many changes at one time without analyzing logs adds confusion.
