spark map: am i an idiot?

4 Attachment(s)
here my spark map, i was thinking about upping the boost and i want to know if my +/- 150kpa map was good for a starter

setup is
1990 1.6
mspnp1v3
familia 7.8:1 compression pistons
b6t a-beam rods
460's FC
toyota cop
artech log+3''everywhere
gt2560r@10-12psi

i know i can run mad timing with such low compression and 94 octane, but i just started tuning myself(tired of waiting for proper tuner who ''have some time'')

so, what can i do with it, get more agressive timing? if so(sorry to ask) but where and why?
or maybe just suicide myself for running that map

thanks a million

can you take screen shot so i can view it at work?

your kPa scaling on your IGN table is messed up. your 60Kpa row should be at 100kPa.

maybe try to aim for something more like this:

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1343056609

NOTE: the 18° cells at idle should be like 10-12°

I have the feeling you adjusted the kpa values however kept the original values for the cells. Where you were at 100kpa at 29 degrees you're not at 60kpa. Know what i mean?

Braineack 07-23-2012 11:38 AM

and FWIW you cant acheive 19-14-10 kPa. no reason to have the map go down that far.

hoping not to get buttraped,
here my new map, scaled to 250kpa,using the sparkmap that Mr.Brain have proposed just before.
i tried to get something straight, havent tried it yet.

should be safe-ish?

Are you planning on running 21ish psi?

Your first map was good to under 6psi, this one goes up to just over 21.

I found it easiest to alter my maps in Excel. Copy/paste, then get rid of the rows above your target pressure. Interpolate between the rows you're left with to end up with 12 rows.

Braineack 07-23-2012 03:55 PM

you really only need like 2-3 rows for boost :)

Our cars drive differently then.

curently running 15psi, i dont want to go above 20, but i want to be sure of what's happening when i boost.

hope it's safe enough.i really, really need some dyno time.

when you boost, you normally hold the pedal down right?

and this in turn holds the pressure steady after boost builds?

so it sorta travels like this:

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1343076313

if you're always making the same peak, and every time in between is just as boost is built during spool/shifting. Why would you need more rows?

im being serious. why do I need those two rows above? why would I need 4 between if it interpolates?

I misunderstood, but I still have values in there for possible over-boost, prior to boost-cut.

Never question me.

ftfy.

What does the MS do when it goes above and beyond your tables? Does it just stay at the last known value?

Braineack 07-23-2012 08:07 PM

yes.
