Default Squirting into a 95

My 96 tub is getting pretty nasty, and it's clear that I won't be able to revive it to its full glory. However, my driveling is strong and I have an MSPNP2.

I'm looking for a southern car, ideally one with a blown motor, so that I can put my entire driveline into it.

My understanding is that a 95 harness differs greatly from a 96 harness, and therefore I won't be able to use my current PNP to run the 1995 car, is this accurate? For example diyautotune sells a different ecu for the 95 than the 96. However, Brain sells an ecu that seems to be compatible with both 95 and 96 (or maybe that's just how he lists his pricing).

My setup currently has a trackspeed VVT motor, w/o vvt activated, and a decent tune saved on the 96 mspnp2.
It seems I have two options for the tub transplant:
1. Get a 96 or 97 car
2. Get a 95 and figure out how to use the 96 mspnp

How do I get squirting on #2?

Getting more creative, or more steps, is to get a brain ms3x running on the 95 so I can get VVT, then sell my pnp2. While I'll mull over 3, please tell me about #2!

The harnesses are different. When buying a MS from brain it's going to be built for your chassis harness. They are not interchangeable without modification. Modding a MSPNP2 to work with a different chassis harness will be annoying. I think you'll be cutting pins and adding a bunch of jumpers to move the inputs and outputs do the correct locations.

Is there a reason you aren't considering selling your MSPNP2 and purchasing a MS3? MS3 would allow for VVT control.

Nevermind. Looks like I missed the last line in your post. Number 3 for sure.

As a follow up on this, and somewhat tangential to the thread title... How do you guys find a tub / car? My method is:

CL and search tempest, SCCA forums, local track club forums, apexspeed, windingroad, and spec miata forums. CL seems to be yielding the most in terms of recent results.

I hear people saying a "Tub is worth about a grand" but I've not found a single non-running car for $1k. More like $3k, then I'll need to part it out down to $1500 net. How would you guys go about doing this search?
