Upgrading to MS-II, please sanity check some of my settings
1 Attachment(s)
I'm upgrading my MS1 v3 board to MS-II. I did the board mods per :brain:'s little color-coded how-to:
IAC1A to JS10 470Ω between 5V and JS10 TACHSELECT to XG1 TSEL to OPTOUT 5V to top of C30 swapped IGN and IAC2B Removed D1 and D2 jumpers on top of board Replaced R12 with 470Ω As you can see from the attached pic, I have my spark outputs the same as the original MS1 setup (just swapped). I have not done JP's spark mod. I got the firmware flashed just fine, using MS2 Extra 3.0.3r. I'm working off of the DIYPNP base map and changing it where needed. I noticed that map has spark inverted. Mostly I just want to verify that I should still be running normal (going low) with how my outputs are configured, and that there is not some difference just between MS1 and MS-II. Confirm? These are DIY's values for the stock CLT sensor: -4 / 16150 104 / 1150 176 / 330 bias 2490 and the default settings in tunerstudio for the GM IAT: -40 / 100700 86 / 2238 210 / 177 bias 2490 But for my parallel setup (without R7 installed) I should substitute 1450 for the CLT and IAT bias values, same as I was using for MS1, correct? I scaled reqfuel for my 550s but it looks like the DIYPNP base map will have me running pig rich if the fueling calcs are at all similar between MS1 and MS2. Like my idle VE cells were in the 20s and the base map is in the 40s. Thankfully VEanalyzer live should make quick work of it. I still need to fiddle with the tables a bit but hope to have it running tonight or tomorrow. |
wanna upgrade your spark output while you are at it? make sure you're still running non-inverted spark.
I have a good basemap if you want it. you'd just need to change a few things like the spark output and rescale it from 6.6 req_fuel to 5.5 for the 550s. I just use the rx7 CLT and GM AIT default values when configuring the sensors, with R7 removed you should be using the bias of 1450 for both, IIRC. your mods look good otherwise. |

take heed with all my settings...

Might as well give him the map we setup for my car.

Thanks, I've been combing over the settings and playing with tables for a couple hours and it's looking pretty good. It's a little late to try running the car tonight but I should be able to start it tomorrow evening.
I noticed that map and the DIYPNP map have trigger offsets of -1 and -4. OTOH the trigger angle I used to sync up MS1 was 84, and my recollection is that most other users were in the 60-80 ballpark. Seems like quite a discrepancy there. Is a value of 84 going to cause me problems? |
MS1 and MS2 use entirely different wheel decoders. The MS2 wheel decoder has a routine written specifically for your CAS and is set up so it shouldn't need much adjustment.
|
I set the offset back to 0 and the car fired up no problem. Syncing it up with the timing light gave me a final value of +7. CLT and IAT values look pretty good too. Drove around for a bit letting VEA-live do its thing, no problems. Still need to do some manual adjusting of my idle cells, but overall the upgrade went smoothly. :bigtu:

drives smoother doesn't it?

It seemed to. I was running a little short on time and there was traffic, so only part of the map really got tuned, but so far so good.
