VSS on a MK2.5

Does anyone know where the VSS output that goes to the stock ECU is on a MK2.5, it behind the instrument cluster?

I want to hook it up to my MS3!

Your ECU is already receiving the VSS signal from the gauge cluster, on the Flex input, so its a matter of configuring it in TunerStudio.

Sorry I knew that, but I was looking for it's location then I might be able to figure out it's settings :)

No-one? I was hoping to remove it and count it's teeth :)

Does no-one use VSS on their ECU?

To answer myself, 5 teeth seems to give the most accurate MPH output.

I had the entire car up on chassis stands and put the car in 5th gear to work it out, it's an irritating setting to work out as you have to power cycle the ECU to see changes.

What tyre diameter did you use?

Uhhh whatever was already I there, which now I've looked is way out. 0.656m

Oops. Still it seems pretty accurate, go figure.

I use it - and I think I have set it as 4000 ppm (pulses per mile), after reading Frank's speedo thread speed conversion | My Westfield MX5 speed conversion | & Megasquirt site

I'll look up the setting tomorrow.

Here is my 99-00 VSS settings - 6-speed from a 2001.

Works perfekt for me...

richyvrlimited 02-25-2013 10:53 AM

Ahh Mine uses PE2 Flex as it's input. It's VSS Position/type is wheel.

Reading again I've no idea how mine is accurate or works, but hey it does!

Whatever works - is the correct solution... :o
