Default 15psi and no meth?

Okay, so I know this is probly going to be really retarded. I picked up a Snow basic water/meth kit and will be changing a few things on the kit and buying other stuff to make my water/meth set up that much more awesome.

So to my question, I can run 15psi on a fairly conservative tune right, until I finish gathering everything I need for the kit im putting together? I know alot of you are running 15+psi but am not sure if yall are running water/meth.....

I dont want to get to agressive with the timing, more boost and whatnot untill I have the safty of water/meth and even then I wont be fully relying on that to protect my engine. Ill be taking the proper procautions to prevent any nasty stuff from happening with a flow meter and other stuff incase of a blockage or low output.

all depends on afr/timing.

I just dont want to blow my **** up!

I was planning on running a slightly richer tune andn conservative timing to try and minimize my chances of DET. I want to get my car up as soon as posible (but I am not rushing it) and install all the extra stuff I want/need after the car is running so ill have less things to trouble shoot in the event of problems. That and I can focus on just getting to car started!

Does your ECU have the ability to detect a flow blockage and unhook the EBC/fall back to secondary timing/fuel maps?

Just start with lower boost, don't try to go for it all at once. Slowly turn the power up as you work through the kinks.

Im running a 96-97 MSPNP I believe it has W/M control but I will be buying a controler for the set up!

I kinda goofed up when I ordered the WG from you. I orderd it with a 1 BAR spring so I think imma have to order another spring so i can gradually move up to 15psi! lol I didnt want to jump straight into 15psi, Im a lil smarter than that. Its also part of why I wanted to install the W/M post getting the car running and decently tuned.

I don't think anything should go boom if you stick to no leaner than 11.5 in boost and run a conservative timing map. Boost isn't what kills your engine (at least not 15psi on a mid sized turbo), detonation/knock does.

Look at leatherface running 20+ on a stock block: granted he's nuts but I still don't see 15psi damaging anything as long as everything else is squared away.

Don't beat on the car constantly and make sure you don't make any stupid mistakes tuning and you'll be fine IMO

I know boost doesnt kill it and that knock and DET does < thats what im trying to prevent.

"so NO leaner than 11.5 full boost/WOT on the AFRs and stay on conservitive side with timing and I will be fine" ( < saying this to myself)

Back the timing off too far and you drive EGTs up and melt stuff. There is a limit.

I deffinatly wont be going low with the timing, Ill do some messing around with bumping the up but not bumping it up to far and risk breaking somehting till the w/m is installed and working properly..

Im goona see how much I can get out of this setup w/out the meth for now. When it comes to my tuning I want to get the most I can out of my tune without going to far to the point I risk melting a piston, bend a rod or break something. Then Ill start on W/M

I thought you had a FMIC to go with your expensive *** **** what is it to small? If you are that worried run the system simple until you get the **** to make it uber its not like it takes that long to make changes on that ****.

Im currently running 22psi with no meth and 18 degrees timing from 4800-7300 rpm and no det or knock. Also 93 octane. If anything lets go in this motor its going to be a rod or rod related. With that said I will be buying another meth controller as my aem unit took a steaming **** on me months ago.

As noisy as our motors are it does little good. You can trust electronics or you can verify **** yourself those are the only real options.

Thanks for the info on your boost levels and timing gus.

Yes, I will be running a FMIC!

You can get away with your 15psi spring.

Here's how:

Load up your safe n happy timoing map
Log a part throttle 0psi pull
Adjust fuel map and repeat 0psi pull until log looks good- 13:1 or whatever
Note the vaules for that row
Redo pull/log/map for a 11:1 AFR at 0psi
Multiply that 0psi row by two and enter those values in your 15psi row
Enter the 13:1 afr in 0psi row
Interpolate between 0 and 15psi rows
Log a 5psi part throttle pull check that afr looks ok
Log a 10psi part throttle pull n check that afr looks ok- should be 11.5ish:1
Log 15psi pull and check that afr looks ok
Clean up fuel map as necessary

Also if u don't have a knock snesor get one. Amazon sells boscx sensors for like 80. I dunno if MS has knock trim but despite what magna says it is worth it.

You can run on wuss timing until you dyno tune.

I dynoed at 14 psi with the WI fuse pulled, then put it in. So, I don't necessarily need the WI, but it is a nice safeguard and peace of mind.

Thanks for the info man!

Knock sensor is something Im going to be doin and Im still searching for more info on it. I fully intend to run it though!

that makes me feel better about this!

Im going to get the car running happily on 15psi for now, then get the WI installed and start aiming for more power!
