That was exactly the way I was thinking but MANY people in the know told me I was wrong. Corner weight balancing is apparently more important than center of gravity. I was originally going to move my battery there and install the WI (pump and tank) there as well. Made perfect sence to me.

 

Those people dont have a car as equal as the miata to begin with go put that stuff or the equivalent there and wiegh it and you will see. Wether we are wrong or right.

 

I've always wanted to make a custom firewall cubby water tank that sits in the space between the wipers and firewall. You could easily put a filler in the cowl space there. Hmm.

 

Keith Tanner was one of the people who explained that throwing the battery and WI stuff (tank, pump, etc) in the pax side floor was the wrong way to do this. I rarely go against his advice, for obvious reasons, so as wrong as it seems to me I will probably stick with a rear corner installation. I've got the car on the lift now and will probably take a look at possibilities to install something "under" the corner. Not sure if there is any room there for the pump or not.


FWIW, Beast previously had a heavy pump for her A/W IC installed in the front drivers side corner. Probably the worst possible place for it <G>.

 

I've seen a few installs where a tank was made from PVC tubing (2" ?) and put in the cowl. Pretty small tank for a daily driver but would work for some of us.

Honestly, I don't think I should be worrying about the tank since I only run a tank of gas through my car once every 2-3 months or so. My records show my current tank has been sitting in the car since 9/28/06. The previous fill up was 6/15/06.

 

Yeah well lack of a running engine will do wonders for fuel consumption.

 

there is alot of room underneath but if you dont think it will get damaged mine is a DD type car so i put it inside but since yours is a occasional driving car you should be fine.
