Sureflow 1gpm pump sufficient?
Is this $50 Sureflow sufficient? Any bad experiences with it?

The big difference I see to the 'standard' pump is the GPM rating (1gpm vs 3gpm). http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/w...6970_9414_9414
If the smaller pump is sufficient I'd like to go with that for packaging and weight. The car and driver are getting kind of porky.

The problem as I understand it is, the regular sureflow pumps are not designed to run methanol threw. 3 GPM would be more then sufficient, but who knows about pump longevity. The pumps that are designed to run alcohol are cheap enough, that skimping seams to be a real bad idea. If you are depending on the methanol to prevent detonation, and your pump fails, the consequences could be considerably more sever, then the rewards of saving a few bucks on a cheaper pump. YMMV

Why is 1gpm (60gph) not sufficient for a 3gph nozzle? I understand that flow goes down as pressure goes up but....?
My intercooler works surprisingly well. The water injection is mainly for its steam cleaning properties and secondly to cool things down a bit when autoxing in 100° weather.
I don't plan on running meth right now but I suppose I might use it in the future.
What is the model or link for the $70/5gpm/100psi/meth compatible pump? I'll buy it.

Are you running with a solenoid or not? I've run a 15 gph nozzle on my Suby running 50/50 denatured alky/water on the second pump you listed. It works fine. Never understood why people wouldn't use a fast acting solenoid (Mcmaster 7876K11) instead of making the pump do all the work. Then again, I'd never run just water either.

From what I understand, it's not legal to autox with a meth mix. It would be embarrassing to come in last place AND get booted for cheating at a divisional event.
For dragstrip use I would run 50/50.
I'm on the fence on using a checkvalve or the solenoid.
15gph? Isn't there a point of diminishing returns? (I have no idea where that is) I searched but couldn't find tests w/ hard numbers on the optimal flow rate for a given setup.

Would it "work"? Of course- some water will no doubt be forced through the nozzle and probably atomized. Will it produce an ideal spray pattern or achieve the nozzle's rated flow? Probably not.

Ok, thanks all. I'll get the 'good' pump off ebay.
Slightly off topic... but is a 3gph nozzle a good choice? The intercooler does an excellent job, keeps things within 5°C of ambient after a full 1/4 mile run. I just want extra safety when I turn the boost up and to control carbon buildup.

There's a handy nozzle sizing calculator here: http://www.alcohol-injection.com/for...lator-351.html
Nozzle flowrates are typically spec'd at 100 PSI.

really all you need is 1gpm pump. Alcohol injection systems do tend to work better with more pressure. This is why i remomend going with no lower than 150psi pump. The pumps made by the larger alcohol injection company's also have seals that are ment for methanol to help ensure a long life.
