I've given up on the washer bottle (have to fill it every two days) and have been trying to figure something out that won't kill my trunk. Been experimenting with a lot of ABS plastic lately, but I kinda like yours.

Someone should build a tank that completely fills the depression in the trunk. Would end up just looking like the trunk had a flat bottom. Nice and stealthy and wouldn't really loose much space.

Be interesting to see an install where someone had installed the bottle behind the rear deck in front of the trunk then installed a filler neck into the trunk. Only thing visible being the lid for the filler neck.

That is the 1 gallon DO tank I got from WOT. I dont go through that much fluid, so 1 gallon is plenty...There is a hole in a tab that is located behind the carpet where the bottle is mounted. I went to home depot and got a flat L bracket, bolted it to the bottle, then used a bolt, nut and washers to secure it to the body. It doesnt move and no permanent damage to the area. I ran the water line behind the carpet, behind the battery and to the pump. The relay, wiring and switch are located behind the battery cover. The pump is mounted to 3/4 piece of ply, painted black and secured with the spare tire bolt. Nice and tidy. The line to the intake is run from the truck through a grommet by the antenna. From there is follows the brake lines under the car to the front of the motor. The line is secured by the brake line brackets, and then secured in the engine bay with a couple of zip ties to make sure it stays put.

I've been experimenting with that space, actually.

I found that a 4" diameter ABS drain pipe fits there perfectly. Unfortunately, with the spare tire in place it's too short to be of value. Removing the tire lets you install a 24" length of pipe, which amounts to roughly 270ci, which is about 4.4 liters. But of course you can't see through ABS pipe, and I'd worry about having such a long, flat area for the water to slosh around in- seems it'd be predisposed to uncovering the outlet and airlocking the system when the level got below, say 1/3 full.

You can try that anti slosh foam stuff. Don't know what it's called (or how much $ it is), but they put it in fuel cells for that same reason.

Anywho, I use that area to hold some tools. Just in case.

So optimally the best tank shape would be a very skinny tall one so that cornering doesn't alter the height of water in the tank and uncover the drain hole?
That would pretty much rule out a custom tank that takes up the spare tire area in the trunk - that would be pretty clean though, just make a fiberglass bottom conformed to the spare tire well with maybe an acrylic top so you could see in and then just put the factory carpet over it all....

If you made a tank big enough to fit in the spare tire well and take up as much space as possible you wouldn't need to see in it. Everytime you filled up with gas you could just add some. Or after you know how much juice you're using you could run say 2 tanks of gas before refilling. You're going to get atleast a 2 gallon tank out of filling up the spare tire well. Who cares what the hell you make it out of. Heck, I'm sure someone on here can make some badass aluminum tanks that shape. Seems bandit could hook it up in that department if people were hardcore interested.

If you guys made a custom WI tank, I would definitely be interetsted for future use. At this point, Im 99.9% sure the miata is the car for me so a WI tank is something I would most def consider down the road.

could you share some info on how long the 1 gallon wi tank is lasting compared to a tank of gas? also some info on boost levels and when the wi kicks in and what size nozzle/ pump pressure if you don't mind.

i can use a gallon in about 30 miles to work and back. running 12psi, WI on at 4 psi, pump pressure of about 87 psi. with a nozzle of 176 cc/min rated at 70psi. But i drive abit faster and harder than most esp when there are no cops around :gay: if you are in the area and need methanol i still have about 45gallons or so in my barrel i would sell you some cheap.

On my setup, I'm using a 3GPH nozzle and a progressive controller. Right now I have the turn-on point set at the lowest setting (about 2 or 3 PSI), and the "max" point at about 15 PSI- this is more than I actually run, so it never goes to 100% duty cycle.

The stock non-ABS NA washer bottle is about 1.6 liters. Running on city roads, driving rather hard, I take it down to about the halfway point in around 30 miles. This means that at present I refill it every 2 to 3 days.

I ordered a 5 liter tank, and I'm going to try to either stick it where the spare is, or in the recess where the battery is and relocate the battery. I can live without a spare tire, but I need my trunk space.

Fortunately, as magnamx-5 alludes to, methanol is fairly cheap when purchased in quantity. I've been getting it for $4.99 per gallon from a local racing shop.
