MS3Pro Module PNP - can you make this for a 99? I'll be buying a mspnp this winter.

Braineack 09-12-2018 11:22 AM

it's 90-05 yeah.

ridethecliche 09-15-2018 12:28 AM

Your OP leaves out 99-00 from the new offerings.

For those in the cheap seats, would you care to elaborate at all on what the added benefits are vs the MS3X?
I see internal datalogging, sequential spark, traction control (for ABS cars?), better MAP sensor, stock knock module (?), water injection and/or 5th injector setup (8 inj banks), better table switching, launch control... and?

Braineack 09-15-2018 09:41 AM

whoops. should be 99-05. thanks.

Benefits:
  • An OTS, stamped, ECU--not hand-populated and soldered--with integrated RTC and Knock modules. It is essentially the same board used in the MS3 Pro.
  • An OTS, printed adapter-board which allows the omission of a hand-built/soldered patch harness that could lead to errors/failure.
  • The adapter board is populated with the required circuits to run a miata, as well as additional popular circuits for customization:
    • constant barometric corrections
    • additional analog and digital inputs
    • bluetooth module
    • wifi module
    • alternator circuit -- if you dont wanna use the software to control it
    • alternator charge light circuit -- if youre out of outputs to waste on this
    • Speeduino VR conditioner
    • (4) additional VR conditioners -- these can be used to add traction control
    • EGT circuit
    • TinyIOX circuit -- for additional sensor inputs via CAN
    • Active low circuits
    • Accelometer circuit
  • Installs within the OE ECU case (requires some cutting/drilling the case) for easier installs -- no zip ties needed for NBs.
  • Should take considerably less time to assemble/deliver.
One downside with Frank's design is the lack of an input/output connector. The reason the 96-97 costs a little more is because I can utilize the extra 12-pin connector on the ECU harness and bring any inputs/outputs into the ECU through a provided pigtail -- Don't really have this option with the other model years.

So until I come up with a better solution, there will be be some wires coming directly off the board (like for wbo2 12v, ground, signal) for all other units -- which i still have to do on my current 96-05 ms3x builds.

ridethecliche 09-16-2018 03:19 PM

Oh that sounds awesome.

Re: Zip ties for the ECU. I drilled holes in the singular bracket and have my MS3X mounted in the stock-ish location. I did use zipties to put the ecu on the bracket because I didn't have the right sized bolts lol.

As an aside, the base MAP sensor on the MS3X is 2.5 bar vs 4 bar for the MS3 Pro, correct? That's also a factor for anyone considering things. 2.5 bar is dandy for a stock motor, the second you build it you're going to want something that goes higher.

Braineack 09-17-2018 08:28 AM

For these, it's still a 2.5bar as default -- that's ~22psi.

I can offer them with a 4bar, but it will change the cost a little; not much. Or you could use the GM 3bar and install it remotely inside the engine bay.

The MS3 module has no map sensor on it.

ridethecliche 09-24-2018 06:43 PM

I guess offering the 4 bar would be helpful unless you think the resolution is crap. 22 PSI limit means that's where overboost should be set, so realistically you're looking at a MAP of 235-240 tops so you have a bit of wiggle room for overboost protection. That leaves you at about 20psi. Still plenty, but you always end up wanting more lol.

I pmed you let me know if you don't get it ill send again

Braineack 11-15-2018 10:01 AM

I need to clear my stock of NB boards, so I'm dropping the price of the NB units for a limited time [till the 26th].

99-05 w/o baro - $950 shipped
99-05 with baro - $965 shipped

Forgive what may be glaring oversight, but what are the 3 wires sticking out of the ms3pnp board? A remote friend is helping wrap up my install in my '90 1.6 car, and we cant find the documentation indicating what the red, black, and yellow/red wire go to. It's not shown in any of the online install guides

Thanks!

Braineack 12-20-2018 11:36 AM

wiring for your wbo2 install:

red is a 12v, black is ground, and the yellow is the o2 input.

Interested parties,

I was able to get my costs a little lower. Also, I worked with Frank so his new boards with also have a 4-bar map sensor as the main sensor!

What is your preferred way to communicate? I had sent a few PM’s and a FB message but never heard back.

axiom 04-21-2019 01:55 AM

Hey mate just flicked you a PM. The USB plug on mine stopped working pretty much straight away. Car runs so I think it’s just the solder.

TheBandit 04-23-2019 08:54 AM

Is anyone hearing back from him? Started discussing an order in early March, but haven't heard back after several PM's.

So the guy that repaired the USB plug mentioned that there were quite a few borderline solders on the board. Lo and behold the tach out has been tempremental in the few days its been in the car.
Doesn't exactly give me hope that something a little more important like injectors will work reliably.
