1995 BPE8 Rebuildable Core w/ 208k Miles
I told myself that once I dropped a built motor in my car, I'd take the OG motor and rebuild it as a spare. That was a lie. Gonna go a different direction and probably just find a stock VVT motor.
Anyways... I'm putting this motor up for sale as a rebuildable core. This is the original motor out of my 1995 Montego. Roughly 208k miles on the clock, 11k with a turbo, maybe 25-30 hours of track time. The motor was running (great) when I pulled it out of the car. Compression readings before I put the turbo on it were 175-180 across the board. I never checked it after but it ran smooth for the whole time after and never skipped a bear. It's always murdered crank and rear main seals and puked oil presumably due to worn thrust bearings. Oil pan is tapped with a fitting for turbo oil drain and the valve cover is drilled for 10AN fittings, although the exhaust side breather threads are... loose and suboptimal without something to seal them. Kraken turbo oil supply line included. I can throw in a stock crank balancer as well.
I drained the oil right before pulling it out of the car and noted it had a metallic sheen to it. No visible metal flakes or anything but you could see slight two-tone contrails in the oil if you ran a screwdriver through it.
At any rate, I'm putting this up as a "core" since I don't think it should be run without at least a bottom end rebuild.
Not entirely sure what makes sense on the price. $300 obo? Hit me with offers. My two main goals are to clear up some space and make sure this thing continues to get used.
