Craigslist, no affiliation. If the conversion is done right, this seems cheaper than any estimate I've seen for doing it yourself.

What I have is a 99 Miata MX-5 with an Ls-1 and T-56 6 speed transmission from a 2000 ws6 firebird. The motor only has 82,000 miles on it. The body of the car as 137,000 miles. I have spent $16,500 to build this car and it was built right. Not some back yard hack job. Still has heat and power steering. All factory gauges work as well as cd player. No a/c yet, but I might have it on before its sold. You would never know this was an ls1 miata without popping the hood or hearing it. NO TEST DRIVES WITHOUT CASH IN HAND!!! It dynoed 398 rwhp and I wont risk somebody trashing my hard work. No joyrides or tire kickers either. We can talk through email and if I see your interested I'll give you my nuber and you can call me. Spam will be reported.

Is it bad that I'm making a mental list of every possession I could sell?
Miata - $3500
Tacoma - $3000
Saab - $2000
G20 - $2000
That gets me to $10.5k.
Guns and knives might get me to $13k...
Dammit.

Oh, just remembered my guitars and amp...that'd be another grand or more, easy.
Now, how do I convince the wife that she can ride her bike to work every day?

Being a sales manager at a dealership, I would like to chime in by saying that there would be a really slim chance of getting a loan on a 99 miata for $14,500...banks and credit unions give you money based on the car's market value, regardless of modifications. So, most banks would consider paying $14,500 for a 99 miata an unreliable asset and deny the loan and say they'll cap out at $6-7k tops...
Now, if he's military or has a great credit union he may have a chance.

Well if the car with high mileage was bought for under $5K, the pullout for $3000 or so and he's running the factory Torsen I guess it could be done. Also if he fabbed up his own mounting stuff. Just can't be done with the prefabbed mounting kit choices.

Ahh ha, I guess I never really thought about cutting all those corners.
If I ever build another or find someone to buy my 3.73 8 inch torsen, I'd go back to the stock Miata torsen setup in a heartbeat, just to see how much it can take!

****. Need to get rich fast. Anyone wanna help me rob a bank?
haha...Yeah, because all you need to drift a miata is an engine that will surely spin you out anywhere...Considering it has NO steering modifications or the unknown rear end, sure just give it a shot.
