'96 is a Type II torsen, and with those miles, as a package, it doesn't seem overpriced.

will this swap be bolt on for 90 1.6 stock?? what else is involved in this setup?? Sorry for the stupid questions, but I am a noob with miata's and trying to do the right thing. What else should I upgrade with the 5 speed manual tranny? Any idea which clutch/flywheel setup is good for over 200hp? If anyone here has the Torsen they are selling pm me and let me know. I am in Illinois.

Seriously. It ain't like there are more becoming available. If people will pay the same price for the diff from Mazmart, why not from a private sale.

Hey what does your torsen setup consist of?? Do you have pictures of it? Is this setup built using the S2000 parts?

It uses no s2000 parts, not sure where you even read/heard that. The swap includes the differential assembly, axles, and driveshaft. Unbolt the old weak stuff, bolt in the new.

its a complete swap from a later year model miata...a great rear end that the early cars didn't come with.

His setup comes with everything you need to bolt it up into your car.

I've got a rear end out of a 94 in my 90.

zoom2zoom, I got the information regarding the torsen S2000 parts here http://members.aol.com/solomiata/Drivetrain.html. Do you know what the final gear ratio is? Can you guys tell me what the benefits of this swap are?? How does this help or is better for a 90 miata?

I am not sure who Andy is since I am new to this forum and Miatas. Just got my miata last week and have been trying to figure out what turbo setup to run on it. I like to do things right and not always on the cheap. So just like to know what is what before I just jump in. I have 90 1.6 with manual tranny, and 93k on motor. Just bought HKS turbo manifold, 255 Walbro fuel pump, Tredstone 600CFM intercooler, piping kit, Greddy bov, MSPnP, and some more things can't remember right now. I am going to be getting the Garrett GT25BB in a week or so, and looking for a BEGi downpipe deal along with some decent injectors. I still have lots of stuff to buy as I have planned, but I think I am doing well for a 1 week old Miata owner. Sorry if I ask stupid questions, but sometimes things are confusing. I would appreciate all the help I can get.

taken from Randy's site, the site you linked to, http://members.aol.com/solomiata/

Torsen Type: Superior torque rating of both the diff and the ring/pinion over the early unit. If longevity is an issue the Torsen is hands down the winner since it will also never wear out. Comes with 4.10:1 gears in 94-97, 4.30:1 in '99+ and 3.909 with the 6-speed. It's action is superior to the VLSD and the clutch type LSD's for autox situations because it is basically an open diff until about 2/3's the way through the corner then it locks the *outside* wheel to about 40-45%. The Torsen action helps prevent a push in super tight corners. The one downside of the Torsen is that if one wheel is completely off the ground (zero traction) then the charactoristics of the Torsen will make it basically an open diff, both wheels have to have at least some traction for the unit to function properly.

I got one too from a 96. The guy I bought it from gave me everything including both wheel shafts w/ new boots, the driveshaft, and all the bolts and new mounts. I got it all for $650.
