I used a wrench to hold the cam in order to tight up the cam pulley.
It broke when i was tightening it up. https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1340659844 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1340659844 |

Nonsense poopypants!
I just shipped a set of wheels/tires for $129 with a total weight of 156 pounds.. ;) |
|
50 bucks shipped...the head will become even more cracked while that cheap shipping. Good deal still if someone wants to spend the time/$ getting it rewelded.

Well, I ended up buying this cylinder head last week. I have a professional fabricator from work that was going to weld the crack back up.
I just received it in the mail yesterday, and decided to tear it down to clean it. I removed the cam caps and noticed disaster: https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1341658652 https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1341658652 Holy crap - this head really is junk. The exhaust cam bearing on cylinder 2 is completely smoked. The other cam bearings definitely show some stress from embedded particles as well, but the exhaust #2 is completely destroyed. This was certainly a surprise for me. Hopefully thomas18a will make it right. |
refund will be issued if u ship it back to me
|
ill pay 25 for the lifters if there still good.
|
Well, I'm going to ship it back. Getting boned for $50 shipping is better than getting boned for $155.
Sometimes these deals just aren't good deals. |
:/ bummer
|
WOW. I was about to buy it. Thanks for beating me to it.
|
Looks like Thomas18 is now refusing to refund.
From a PM: "I jsut talked with my mechanic. He said the head should still run fine after the cracked is fixed. In fact, the head had been running in my car for a year. I had no problem with it. at this point, since the head could still run fine after cracked is fixed, i would not accept return." Sorry bud. This head is not still usable. You need a better mechanic, and I need my money back. |
OP should refund and be glad that he's not banned. This is CR style crap.
|
Did you pay with paypal? File a claim asap. Hopefully you didn't send money as a gift. This is ridiculous and is totally unacceptable. He probably didn't know about it considering the way he puts stuff together on his own car, but that is total crap. I hope you get it sorted out
|
Buyer needs to eat all. I've been on both sides of the fence. I've had to eat a few NIB items. It hurts, but its better then being seen as a dead beat seller.
|
Damn, that sucks. One of the reasons that I only deal with people that have been around for a bit and have positive feedback.
There's no way that any mechanic could say that head was good. |
lol at refusing a refund. file claim with paypal ASAP.
|
The Paypal dispute has been filed. The seller originally wanted me to setup as a gift, but I didn't feel comfortable without any protection. Luckily, I paid the extra 3% Paypal fees and hopefully have some recourse available.
I do think it is strange that if I ship this back to the seller and get a refund provided that: 1) The seller has his useless part back and is out no money (Net zero for transaction) 2) The buyer has no part, and is out $50 for shipping it back to the seller (net -$50) How is that fair? |
i've also gladly paid the additional 3% to have some recourse JUST IN CASE.
good luck |
Good luck and let us know how it works out with Paypal. Thomas18 = scumbag
|
Thanks for the info guys.

Why is this guy not banned yet?
|
If he makes it right, he shouldn't be banned. If he doesn't, he should be.

Wow, how do you sleep at night? There is no way that engine was running for a year with bearing caps in that shape.

You are a total cockfag. Just go ahead and return the money with a little dignity. |

Thomas.. Yes it may have been running, I will concede that, But it would not have run much longer.
Looking at the pics you posted, you can see the darker colors (circled in red) of heat build up on both the cam and the cam cap. Attachment 48950 Attachment 48951 I didnt notice that when I first looked, and thought about buying this head. :2cents: once again |
fear the bogus!
|
I thought about buying it too since I was in the area.
Laziness pays off again. I hope you get your money back. |
you're a pretty sick guy Thomas
|
Please post Thomas's personal information if no funds are refunded.

One more disturbing item is the fact that when the head arrived here, several cam cap bolts were missing. I wasn't too worried about the missing bolts themselves - more worried about the fact that missing bolts indicate that the cam caps had been removed and the seller would DEFINATELY have seen the damage. So, he saw the damage, and chose not to mention it.
Now he claims that the damage should have no effect on the cylinder head at all. There are two possible scenarios: 1) Seller isn't smart enough to realize that a destroyed bearing makes a cylinder head unusable and sent it out without bad intent. However, he should make it right by refunding the money, now that he is informed of the fact that the cylinder head is junk, and it's condition was not properly represented. 2) Seller is purposely fraudulent, and won't refund because that would eat into his profit from selling defective equipment. |
that reminds me, i need cam cap bolts. lol
|
Wow that head is trash. Sorry man.. Maybe we can get someone to go by his house, oldskool mt.net style.
|
Return the head through his front window.

this type of ---- makes me go crazy.
What a POS seller. |
I've been scam a couple of times. Doesn't feel good.
Hopefully paypal will work things out. |
I don't think he should be allowed to have other for sale threads until this is resolved.

Seller refuses to return money. Waiting for a Paypal decision. I'm not sure why Paypal is taking so long.
|
Case Update:
PayPal boned me. Quote from Paypal: "After careful consideration, we're unable to decide this claim in your favor at this time. The item is not in the same condition as when you received it." Arghhhh! Seems like they are claiming that I did this damage somehow? What a bunch of morons! |
