Strange coincidence that it is the same color as yours 
My brother Cliff & I own 3 Miatas (each). Cliff's '99 winter car has a fair amount of rust on the trunk lid, (Thanks New England), and a clean one will save a lot of hassle when he "refreshes" the car for the last time. > $140 would be of debatable benefit, but at that price, its arguably not worth it to try & save the old one.
