Absurdflow turbo setup for 01-05 new!
10 Attachment(s)
OK, I admit defeat. I thought the car was going to get built. It didn't. I thought I sold the car. I didn't. Now, I am frustrated that I have all this stuff in my garage so out it goes!
I have an Absurdflow Turbo setup built by Tim Fodor. I have the SS manifold with v-band 38 mm Tial bypass. I set it up for 14.5 lbs. You can respring it any way you want. It also comes with a Garrett 3071r, also v-band and has iconel bolts. I have his last improved incarnation down pipe with flex. Also included in the package is a FM intercooler. This stuff was built for my 2005 MSM and has never been installed (except the intercooler that I had used with the original Turbo). It is all brand new, haven't even bolted the Turbo to the manifold. Should fit 2001-2005 but do your own homework. I paid $2930 for the Absurdflow with the 3071 and Tial. The FM intercooler was another $500+. I will take $2200 for the package, plus shipping. Note: does not include injectors, ecu, plumbing or intake etc. You are buying only what is listed above. $2200 plus shipping Steve (615) 653- 6689 |
Andrew should be thankful you didn't post this before I bought my AF setup from him! I give this a couple more hours before you have an offer |
interested in mani/dp if you decide to split it up
|
Best turbo parts you can buy, period.
|
Arg. Why couldn't this be for sale in winter or spring?
|
Probably silly question, but is it ac/ps compatible? |
it looks like the mazdaspeed miata direct replacement version he has so yes it should be both A/C and P/S compatible. Atleast for a amazdaspeed miata that is.
|
Trade for my FM setup... :ninja:
|
Wow, great deal. Too bad I'm dirt poor. =(
|
I PM'd you a little while ago, but had a couple questions. Wondering if it's compatible with AC like a couple other guys asked, also the size of the downpipe, and the A/R on the turbo.
Someone seriously needs to buy this thing, I really don't need to be spending the money. |
Ugh. This plus Y8s car... Where's that guy with a $10k budget?
|
why swap out y8s current setup though?

I am thinking this should be 99-00 compatible as well? Assuming it's something like a track car with minimal accessories...very,very tempting...
Any idea on shipping to 78023? |
If I can use it on my 99-00 motor in a 94 chassis, I'll take it! Not concerned with intercooler, already have that but I can sell it off.

It's a track car so I can massage the tunnel area...I don't think it will be an issue. I think there is no difference na/nb until you get down to where downpipe/header meets the exhaust and that's obviously not an issue here. I'll PM you and maybe we can work something out.
|
absurd
No, it is not a/c compatible. It might be PS compatible but my rack was already depowered, so I can't say for sure. If I remember correctly, and I might not, you can Fab some brackets and make the a/c work. I didn't care so I never set about measuring. Tim could tell you for sure.
I will not separate the package. Period. I would also suggest that you know what you are getting here. This is not really a set up for an all stock motor. You stock 1.6 guys, even with a different mani are dreaming. A stock 01-05 (probably 99-00 as well) can be done but a forged bottom end with a worked head will really make the most of it. Check Savington's build. Great stuff. Bargain price, but not for noobs, like me. |
haha I really hope no one is stupid enough to run this on stock block. would be such a waste

I bet Fae could do it!!! hahaha Nice setup BTW! |
Just change the wastegate spring for less boost if you plan to run it on a stock DD. Overkill = yes. Badass = fuck yes.

turbo
You are correct about dialing down the boost. It can be used on a stock bottom end daily driver, it would be less than optimal but it would work.
I should have mentioned that a/r is. 63. The down pipe is of course 3". It looks like a friggen water main. Tim and I corresponded for quite some time before we put this together. The car was going to run NASA and be a dedicated track car. I was going to use e85 and wanted to make sure I could pull out of the corners quickly. With my original setup I ate mustangs camaros etc in the corners but once they dropped the hammer coming out of the corners I lost ground to them. Sooo, I wanted to spool quickly and was willing to give up top end to get it. I could outbreak them going into corners but had to be on their ass to do that. Anyway, that was the plan. Again, I took some of my ques from Savington's build and listened to Tim's advice. It may not be perfect for your purposes but it was specifically built for mine. Tim was proud of this setup and when I saw the workmanship I new why. He makes crazy nice stuff. He is also a good guy. |
Arg. Sorry you could not use the setup. Silly, silly, SILLy low price for this.
The chances of another new kit coming up are, umm, like 0.01%, cause I sorta aren't doing that no more. Super slick setup with all the options except for drilled inconel bolts. I would recommend the new owner have that done if Steve didn't yet. full vband GT3071R with fancy tial compressor housing and tial's turbine housing. I don't have the specs on my home computer to know the A/R on the turbine, I think it was .63, which is similar to the .86 for you T2 turbine people. Don't work with A/C or P/S. It will fit the NA chassis, it was built on my '92 1.8 miata. It is not the direct MSM replacement, I never built one of those. This is the baller original style ABSURDflow manifold. Same as Savington, Hustler, thesnowboarder...etc. Genesplicer: I didn't know who bought Savington's old manifold, good to know. I have a spreadsheet of who has what, now i can update it. Good luck with the sale  |
:jerkit:
That is beautiful. |

So do your setups have a life-time warranty? ;) |
Deposit sent! Thanks Steve...I'll put it to good use! Now if I can keep from destroying transmissions, the last one only made it 2 test sessions. Guess I should have had the boost gauge working?

:bigtu: I'll forward you Sav's installation procedure if you pm your email. He knows best. |
Thanks Gene! Also, I think I just scored an '01 6 speed for $350...going to check it out right now. :)
