BEAVIS 03-06-2017 05:53 AM

Wow $450... Here in Aus I bought one for $5 :-P
Thats like 32cents given our dollar is so crap at the moment.

HHammerly 03-06-2017 06:42 AM

Yea, we looked into this before and shipping was $445 LOL you could make some money if you could get them shipped to the us cheap!

shuiend 03-06-2017 02:59 PM

Yep the shipping from Aussieland to the US killed it being viable to move a few over.

gianic 03-06-2017 04:14 PM

I will have another set next week. :)

Might be worth it to get a container full and ship it over that way hahaaha.

I don't even know if there are enough 3.63 R&P's in Australia to fill a whole container, nor do I want to know how much it would cost for that many.

borka 03-07-2017 10:29 PM

whats the weight of the package? it should not be more than $150 to ship via regular mail service.

GeneSplicer 03-07-2017 11:19 PM

Now to resell and profit - just kidding! Thanks man :bigtu:

gianic 03-08-2017 03:22 AM

Thanks for the feedback :D

my r&p set shipping weight was 5.5kg

borka 03-08-2017 10:24 AM

so 12-14 lbs box roughly.

I ship packages from USA to Australia via USPS and UPS and its about $100-120 for that kind of weight. It cant be much more going back the other way into USA.

If a good source of 3.63 can be found, there is money to be made.

It is much cheaper to ship from the USA to Australia, then from Australia to USA. Believe me I did a ton of research into it several years back. I had a lead on 7-15 R&P's and a long list of people who were interested into them. It fell apart when it came to getting them all to me. Between shipping costs, paypal fees, and cost of the R&P's there was not much savings at all.

BEAVIS 03-09-2017 03:23 AM

Sadly postage in Australia is a bit of a rip. We pay out the wahzoo for just local, or interstate postage... let alone trying to send something overseas.

gianic 03-09-2017 04:01 AM

Don't worry guys , I will have two more sets next week for ya.

sonofthehill 03-09-2017 12:02 PM

Wish I knew this before, I've been to Victoria twice and my wife has status with the airlines. That means we can check 3 70# bags for free, I am going to bring crappy clothes and toss them next time.

She does business there sometimes, we may get to go again. I will definitely fill my bags with 3.63 R&P's to the weight limit.

Hell, might even be worth it to pay for extra baggage!

phocup 03-13-2017 12:07 PM

Would installing these gear into an open diff turn it into Torsen ? Or are these mainly being installed into existing Torsen ?

if you want a torsen you need to get one, the ring gear bolts on to whatever diff you have

sonofthehill 03-13-2017 12:15 PM

It just makes 1st gear usable in a 6 speed, instead of only for towing up a steep grade.

phocup 03-13-2017 12:22 PM

Got it. Thanks!

This is so fucking true. I have the 3.63 in my track car now and I keep getting confused when I get in and 1st is somewhat drivable. Before I would always start in second and completely ignore first.

These gears would go into an open differential, but it would stay an open differential. The only thing they would change is the gear ratio.

Some of the torsen ratio differentials often go for less than the others depending on what things are like around you. It's possible to get whatever it is you find near you that's cheap and a proven torsen and then swap this ratio in if that's your longer term goal anyway.

If you have questions on how to tell a torsen from an open differential, there are a few good write ups on miata.net.

Hmm .. guess it was noob enough a question to be considered trolling. LOL. Appreciate the knowledge though. Thanks.

gianic 03-21-2017 08:59 AM

I have one 3.63 set in stock guys and i can ship ASAP at same price 450$ shipped.

Also if you are interested I have in stock two sets of 3.72 ring and pinion for 350$ shipped, from 6spd NC. It fits perfectly in the NB case but you will need some spacers for the perfect adjustment.

farpolemiddle 03-22-2017 03:15 AM

These dudes may have hurt the demand. I suspect if they keep up with demand used 3.6s will be in the $300s. I could be completely wrong as well.

Nice I wonder what the Top speeds in each gear would be with a 3.3 on a 6spd. Might be a bit to tall for a Peaky 1.8 motor though.

The numbers are in the other thread for that.

The 3.63 is SOLD. Thanks.

Don't worry, the 3.3's will be sold out by the time you get there. search gearset

MstrBlk 03-22-2017 01:57 PM

I thought the purpose of lower gears was top end, not acceleration?

ridethecliche 03-22-2017 02:03 PM

FPM, there are like 5 of those units left. I doubt that the blip is going to do anything to affect prices of the 3.6. Unless they're something that are in constant supply anyway.

On a stock miata... sure.

You can accelerate plenty fast if you have the HP to back it up.

bahurd 03-22-2017 02:11 PM

While I keep staring at that shopping cart and thinking how nice it'd be to cruise at something around 2900 I'll have to exhibit some self control and pass. Would be interested in a group buy though if the price came down a bit.

Somebody please buy the last one so the check mark goes away.... :giggle:

Johnny wangwang 03-22-2017 02:26 PM

$625 shipped isn't that bad...I think the 636 will be what I want though.

shuiend 03-22-2017 02:32 PM

To put it in perspective, the 3.63 gears new from Mazda run you in the $525-575 range.

bahurd 03-22-2017 02:40 PM

I'll live with the 3.9 for now and watch for a set of 3.63 along the way. I have too much other crap to put together.

sixshooter 03-23-2017 07:19 AM

The 3.63 is the perfect gear for me with the 6speed and 300whp. It is still pulling at 150mph with plenty of room to go faster than I need to go well above that. It also cruises at a really nice RPM at 80mph compared to stock 4.10 gears. It isn't so tall that I need to downshift to make enough power to run up to 90mph to pass another car quickly. And first gear is definitely useful and needed with the 3.63's where it wasn't previously.

icantlearn 03-25-2017 09:58 PM

who will be the man with balls big enough to top out a 6spd 3.63 car? :naughty:

Philly Miata 03-25-2017 10:16 PM

Got another 3.63 for sale? I'm hankerin for one.

I am pretty sure some of the higher HP track guys have topped it them out. Almost positive I have heard Sixshooter talk about getting into the mid 160'smph at Daytona.

Philly Miata 03-26-2017 09:39 AM

Hey, definitely interested in a set, I'm doing an exhaustive 1.8 swap into my 90, including a 6 spd. I'm still learning about a lot of this stuff, so my question is, before I take this to a shop to have the gears swapped, is there anything else i should make sure I have to replace in the diff when it gets rebuilt? Wear items or i read something about crush sleeves? I'm doing my homework but requesting a little if possible.

gianic 03-26-2017 10:18 AM

So until now the priority is like this.
1. Philly Miata
2. bahurd
3.
4.

The sets are now 4 and I will have them in my hands this week or the next. Price stays the same 450$ shipped anywhere in the world.

Philly Miata 03-26-2017 11:23 AM

Payment sent to the man in the tsarouchia.

sixshooter 03-26-2017 12:38 PM

I only hit 150.x mph at Daytona last time with the 3.63s. I was having other technical problems so I wasn't making full power, only about 250whp. I had plenty of gear left to go faster.

It made me want a full cage rather than a rollbar and door bars.

gianic 03-26-2017 01:26 PM

Only one set left for the preorder.

1. Philly Miata
2. bahurd
3. Colipto
4.

konmo 03-27-2017 02:27 AM

I'm in for the fourth set. Group buy price? :naughty:
