OP texted me today asking me if I was still getting the hardtop tomorrow. Replied yes, and reiterated the time we agreed upon. OP said someone was coming to look at it tonight. I respond that we agreed on a price, time, I had offered to PayPal, etc. Blah blah blah, OP sold it to the guy who came tonight.

 

If it happened as you said, dick move!

 

He gave me BS about how he has been screwed by people saying they would buy it, then they didn't show up. I replied that I wish he would have said that Tuesday when we agreed to a deal, and that I would have paid a deposit. He said he wouldn't have been comfortable holding my money.

He sold the top, then sent me a text saying it's sold, and if it makes you feel better the guy who bought it paid $100 more than my offer.

No a-hole, it doesn't make me feel better. You agreed to a deal. If my offer wasn't what you wanted, you should have said so.

 

It's a classic move these days, usually it is because someone paid more than you offered. You are only as good as your word, and some people ain't worth ****.
