I'd say start out with something like this:
http://www.usa.denon.com/ProductDetails/3526.asp which is going to be advanced and powerful enough for you to use for many years to come. Dave, |
My new favorite receiver, A bit expensive, but has an on board HQV ReonVX video processor:

Why would you want to do this?
Hustler, go to EBAY and get yourself some old adcom amp or something... |
Hustler go to diysubwoofers.org and apexjr.com
|
Ben, you've been PM'd......
Dave, |
Ben, you got any old speaker or amp stuff that may or may not be working?
|
I have some old speakers that I don't use anymore, but can't make myself sell them. You know that whole, "I'll probably be able to use it at my next house" thing. Truthfully, with most of the stuff I have, I can't get better unless I spend a crap ton of money, so it's tough.
I usually throw busted electronics away, unless it's special circumstances, because the cost to get them repaired is too high. I have a fairly nice Denon DVD changer DVM-1805 that I was about to throw away. It powers up and switches disks around, but doesn't want to read media. Don't know what's wrong, but it is a common problem with Denon changers. Used to be a pretty decent unit (Faroujda DCDi). You can have it if you want to pay shipping. Dave, I'll measure and weight it to get a shipping estimate. Shouldn't be too bad. What carrier do you prefer? |
the denon would be sweet if it were working but sadly I think the repair costs are not worth it. thanks tho
