Ah hell.

What did I spend? I think only $283, hardly more and it's new, good deal though for someone else.

Can anyone explain why he says it requires the TB from an automatic? Does it have something to do with a variable tps? My BEGi kit is en route and I'm trying to figure out what kind of MS setup I should go with.

thats a nice to have, not a need to have. Helps with idle droop.

the 1.6 manual TB has an on/off TPS, automatic has a potentiometer, so it actually has partial throttle resolution.

So it helps with idle droop, like when A/C is turned on, but it's not necessary? If this guy built it himself, should I be concerned about the quality of the work compared to, say, ordering one from Braineack?

Definitely, as his skill is unknown, but if he says he's ran it for a while, I'd probably trust it, there's enough knowledge on this board and that price is cheap enough that you could even buy it with a problem or two to fix and get away with a steal.

Planning on talking with him today if it hasn't sold yet...any critical questions I should ask him about it? I was planning on ordering from Braineack and using his expertise to guide me through the process, so I'm a little behind the knowledge curve on MS.

there are plenty of people on this forum that will share their knowledge. you can feel free to pm me if you have any issues with it. but any way you decide to go you've got lots of reading to do.
