those turbo are just amazing,a guy i know runs a familia gtr @ 24 psi and trap some high 11 with absic mods only( MS+FMIC)

it is sick, start boosting around 2200 rpm, max boost(24 psi) before 3200 rpm, hold's it untill 7800 rpm, on a bone stock gtr bp+550s

would have kill to have one like this in the miata, but i allready bought a NIB 2871:(

good luck with sale, awesome turbo there

never EVER compare a vj11-14 or a vj20 to a vj23

the familia gt-r was the 4 cyl production car that came out with the largest turbo, and from the top of my poor memory the record still hold

the vj23 is a beast

I think I remember hearing something about these being in Australia. Highly sought after.

It's closer to a GT2871r, they were designed for top-end power. Boost at 3200, 15PSI at 3650. I'm one of a handful of people in North America with a GT-R. The VJ-23 is the largest turbo put on a Mazda from factory, the other VJs don't come close.

it's even bigger than subaru sti's ihi!

they made only 2000 of those, even less if we withdraw those who have sank/burn/exploded.the familia gtr is THE greatest hatch mazda ever created.

i was a fan of those bpt, i actually drove a mx-3+gtx to it's limits in the last5-6 years
those are INCREDIBLE engine, and the gtr turbo is even awesomer:P

GLWS, if it was not for the cost of a rebuild i think it would be the greatest all-around-turbo ever

Yeah, 2200 GTRs and 300 GTaes, plus spare turbos, the last of which was bought up a couple months ago. There are no new replacements now. The only thing that can be rebuilt is the seals, luckily that's usually the only thing that breaks. They came on the BPD engine, a BPT with the beefiest rods in a b series engine (bigger than the B6T), sodium-filled exhaust valves, stepped intake runners for equal flow and pressure in all cylinders (Mazda spent millions developing this single manifold), stronger pistons with new oil cooling channels, bigger oil cooler, etc.
