Electronic speedo gear for 6-speed

1 Attachment(s)
Purchased it thinking I was going to use it with my 6-speed and 3.63 diff gears, then realized it was electronic, but too late to return to Mazda. Part number M533-17-400A. $30 obo plus shipping.

Sorry, I just reread your post. I also have a 6 speed with 3.63 gears. I take it by your post, it won't fit my transmission either.

soflarick 05-08-2009 10:59 PM

Apparently the years the 6-speed came in used electronic speedo gears. NA's use mechanical, so I had to purchase another speedo gear assembly. As a matter of fact, I think I have a complete mechanical assembly if you are interested.

So what combo is this for? I have a 5 speed with the 3.9 rear. I was about to buy one of the dakota digital units to fix the speedo.

This is an OEM Mazda electronic speedo gear that is used with the 6-speed for the NB model cars, and the gear is sized for 3.63 diff gears. I don't know what the Dakota unit is.

I'm definitely interested.

Thanks

I just checked my stash, and I have 1 speedo gear housing for mechanical gear, 1011-17-442A, and the o-ring that goes on it, 1011-17-443. I don't have any other parts for it. I thought I had a gear lying around, but I didn't see it. Both parts are new. I'd have to check Mazda Comp to see what I paid, but I have to check on a couple other items anyway.

Cool. I'll take it when you have the price. If you can point me to where I can buy the gear and the part number, I'd be thankful.

Thanks

Just checked my account, and I paid $60+ for the electronic speedo. If I can't sell it, I wonder if I can try to return it to a local dealer.

I just pmed you. If they can exchange it for the mechanical one; I'd be more than happy to pay for it.

I'll pm you my email so we can keep in touch.

Thanks,

This is for NB's only.
Mazda never offered a NA mechanical drive for 3.63.

(edit) after reading again and actually paying attention the second time, I see everyone is on the same page. carry on.

Thanks. BTW, I'm going to need your or Eric's assistance to get the parts I'm missing.

I remember on the "other site" a thread about the gear part number. Heck, I may have posted to it, but it's been quite a while.

Thanks for the tip.

I'll look it up.

So what do you need to make the 6 speed work? the mechanical shit since all the NB's are electronic could we just swap out our NA speedo units etc? I think randy stockers site had collor cordinated chart on speedo gears and there ratios.

soflarick 05-10-2009 08:22 AM

The gear housing, an o-ring, an internal seal, the gear, and a little pin complete the mechanical speedo gear.

Do you ever order any OEM parts? Any Mazda dealer? Just anywhere that can get you OEM stuff is where you need to go, I've not seen these parts listed online anywhere.

soflarick 05-10-2009 02:48 PM

I think I need to order another gear. I can't find the one I purchased.
