Extended Lower Ball Joint Group Buy--FIRST shipment

4 Attachment(s)
Okay, This is a one-time only deal as I want to get these out and in use, but at the same time don't want to cheese off the good people at FM, Good-Win, Miata Roadster, etceteras, who will be carrying these parts when they arrive by boat.

PLEASE only add your name if the extended lower ball joints will be going on your car soon and you can give feedback. There are lots more coming.

These are NA/NB (1990-2005) Extended Lower Ball Joints that will add approximately 3 degrees of negative camber at stock ride height, with a typical camber adjustment from -.5 to -3.5. So...can use with daily drive camber or extend to race camber. Lowered cars will see more extreme negative camber gain.

These are top quality forged LBJ's that don't need break-in and install quickly.

Your Christmas price is $100/pr., plus tax if in CA & $10 ship. I can only open 10 pair right now, as I'm not sure how many are shipping early by air. If only 8 pair arrive, then the top 8 get. If more arrive, I'll add to the list.

Payment by PayPal after the parts have been received.

Merry Christmas!!!

Eh, with those, I'm guaranteed to get them. These, I might not be high enough on the list for 2 sets.

Wouldn't hurt to throw the name on the list. I mean, the $80 saved for the two pairs would practically be free ARP wheel studs.

Any idea when these will ship? I have all my control arms off right now to do poly bushings and want to get these thrown on asap before I get the alignment done.

I'm in if someone backs out. During the tear down I've found the ball joints on the V8 Roadster LCA have slipped during the season.

90civichhb 11-30-2015 11:38 AM

I am in if someone backs out as well. I can't believe I woke up late and missed this.

cordycord 12-01-2015 01:41 AM

Wow.....that was FAST. I'll give everyone an update as soon as they're available, and will confirm the quantity that arrived.

cordycord 12-01-2015 12:39 PM

NASA approval!

This just in: Keith Tanner at Flyin' Miata got in touch with NASA early regarding the ELBJ's. NASA has seen, tested and APPROVED the ball joints, pending some way to mark them properly. These 10 are the EARLY batch, so if they're going on your racer, you might want to wait until the marking situation is finalized.

jpreston 12-01-2015 12:53 PM

Are you referring to NASA TT/PT or spec miata?

aidandj 12-01-2015 12:56 PM

NASA

I'm getting the news second-hand. I'm ASSuming that they'll be approved in the same classes as the eccentric bushings.

Well that's upsetting. I just ordered two sets from Flyin Miata over the weekend. I sure would have like to have gotten the discount.

I do definitely appreciate you bringing these to market!

k24madness 12-02-2015 01:34 PM

Bravo CordyCord! This is the cleanest way to get better camber out of the car. I was looking at modifying the lower CA ball joint mounting point. Well done sir!

Put me on the list. Hopefully someone drops out or you get more in.

VoBoy 12-02-2015 01:50 PM

Late to the party, but want in if extras are available.

approved meaning we can use them without a points penalty or approved for usage but take the +2 as listed under the suspension for TT/PT classing?

fourwhls 12-07-2015 05:02 PM

If anybody drops out, I'd like a set.

Looks amazing, let us know when to paypal

cordycord 12-08-2015 08:37 PM

The Extended Lower Ball Joints ARE HERE!

I just got the air shipment tonight! That's the good news. The bad news is that they do not have the Bauer Ltd logo on them.

If you're on the list, please Paypal your hard-earned duckets to cord.bauer@cox.net . $110 outside of CA and $118 if you live in our wonderful state.

Speaking of which, our good governor Moonbeam said this week, “You can be sure California is going to keep innovating, keep regulating, and, shall I say, keep taxing.” He's a car enthusiast's dream...:vash:

I'll pull your address from PayPal and confirm the tracking number via email. IF there are any left, I've got a couple of other people who have shown interest. I'll contact you if there are enough to go around.

Otherwise, NASA says these will be 100% legal in SM, In PT, competitors take 2 points. ST is currently going through a rules revamp, so we'll have to see what they do there. And SuperMiata sure as shinola will be using these ELBJ's.

I just got these installed over the weekend and wanted to give my impressions on everything.

Seller: Bauer Limited Productions had excellent customer service. Communication was great and he got the parts shipped out to me the same day that he received them in. The group buy price was unbeatable. I was on the fence about ordering a set from Flyin Miata but the fact that they did not have an estimated ship date was concerning. I’m glad I held off and got in on this group buy.

Quality: Out of the box, the parts looked exceptional. The casting quality was on par with the oem piece with no noticeable imperfection or casting flaws. The dust boot looked to be thick and very durable. Once you crack the ball joint free for the first time the joint was smooth with absolutely no looseness or slope like my 100k stock ball joints. Overall I can’t find any complaints here.

Durability: No Idea. They withstood a canyon run without any hiccups. Only time will tell. I hope to put many track miles on them in 2016 and will report back if there are any issues.

Functionality: Excellent! They do exactly what their advertised to do. My last miata was only about to get a maximum of 2.7 degrees of camber. With the extended ball joints I was able to get the car aligned to -3.5 degree and hit the 949 Racing “Race” alignment spec. I’m sure they could achieve more camber but I did not ask the shop to max them out. In the pic bellow you can see the dimension change from the OEM ball joint to get an idea of how this part shifts your eccentric bolt camber adjustment range.

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1450154056

Cons: The only quirk is that the OEM castle nut is a 21mm and this one uses a 22mm. No idea why but just a heads up since 22mm is a less common socket size.

All in all I’m very pleased with this purchase. It’s nice knowing that I’ll never have to worry about the LBJ bushing tearing or failing for the next 6+ years. And that I’ll be able to hit any front camber spec that I’d ever want to run.

90civichhb 12-15-2015 07:41 AM

Wow, so much negative camber while having so much caster as well. Are you on different spindles?

cordycord 12-15-2015 09:53 AM

ELBJ's are forged

Thanks for the write-up Chris. :) A couple of points: Flyin' Miata doesn't have a firm ship date because I haven't given them one yet. The main shipment was supposed to arrive before Christmas (it's on the water now), but now we're shooting for end of 2015. Not their fault.

949 Racing will also carry them.

Last, these parts are coming out of a brand new FORGING. They're stout, and this shipment was the first out of a brand new mold. A red-hot ball joint blank is forged by placing it in a formed pocket where literally tons of weight come crushing down on the hot part. The molecules are forced together, making it stronger. After that, they're put in a jig and drilled out where the main BJ hole becomes the main dimension for all other mounting points.

Another shipment is on the water, and these will have the laser etched logo that will be required if you're going to run these in NASA. SCCA will be contacted as soon as we have some logo'd parts in stock.

Nope, stock 99 NB.

.one lane 12-15-2015 12:09 PM

I received mine yesterday, haven't opened the box yet! I can't wait to run max caster!

aidandj 12-15-2015 01:23 PM

When you say they need the logo to be legal for NASA is that spec Miata or like TT/PT
