I have a valve cover removed from an Escort GT for sale. It's identical to a Protege cover except it reads "Ford" where a Protege cover reads "Mazda". Otherwise it's an identical part. It will bolt on leaving your cam gears exposed. There are no provisions to bolt your coil pack on though so you will have to only run 1 bolt or fab up your own bracket. Also PCV outlet is in a different spot. Either run a different hose or relocate the breather. Pictures tonight.

It will bolt up to any 1.8L head, so yes. Do you have a 99 car or a 99 head swapped in an older 1.8?

 

I had planned to machine the ford logo off of mine.... or weld it up and machine the mazda toilet bowl on it
