I looked into this more, and deezums is right. The MS3x requires an added high-current signal circuit to control these coils. The misinformation above has been corrected.

From checking my doco, can confirm haltech elite has 1A output per injector channel if that helps.

Is it the same for ignition channels?

My buddy has a 240sx running R8 coils and he’s trying to go standalone ECU but he said those coils wouldn’t work with megasquirt. How did you guys get them to work, or is he misinformed?

I've been reading up on this. There's a circuit you can build that will let your ms3x do it

straight from the manual. There's also the amplifier option.

It depends on what version of Megasquirt he's running. It needs to have high current ignition channels. It's super easy to design into the ECU, but a few years ago there was no reason to. Modern, fully-featured ECUs will generally have high current channels now.

So does that include the MS3 Basic? Maybe I'll take this opportunity to switch over to a Link. ADD IT TO THE LIST!

I have the exact same curiosity, whether MS3 Basic would support these.

In a cursory scan of the interwebs, I haven't found a full manual for the MS3 Basic. I reached out to Dimitris to get the straight facts.

MS3 Basic doesn't have a high current circuit.

Paypal sent! Was eyeing your original kit for some time, this seems to be a no-brainer for my 300HP build.

$270 for you. That gets you the 90-93 chassis patch harness and the sequential add on. And you'll need to trim the seal to fit the VVT head.

My only concern with this is that at the bottom it says "cannot drive some VAG COPs".

thats my bad on the screen shot, the above diagram is the one that will work the lower one applies to a different layout. 5.3.1.3 is the one that will work or the amplifier/buffer of 5.3.3
